The Merchandise Planner is responsible for developing brand/class level financial plans and forecasts that align with the overall merchant strategy, business trends and company objectives in conjunction with their merchant partner. The planner will use fact based analysis to develop financial plans and forecasts for sales, margin, and inventory at the brand/class level, as well as item forecasts for key items and promotional events. The planner will be jointly aligned with the merchant to deliver and execute the financial plan and forecast. This position reports to the Merchandise Planning Manager.
Partner with Merchandising and Planning Manager to asses the performance of the business, develop key brand/class strategies that support merchant objectives, deliver ROI targets and meet the financial expectations for the department. Examples include:
Identifying impacts from major shifts in product flow
Review changes in product flow and product flow strategies
Review all planogram shifts that affect brand/class level plans for future seasons
Understand the impact of new stores, remodels, and exiting brands/categories to the plan
Reviewing pricing & promotional activity shifts
Understand the impact of seasonal change in SRP's
Understand the impact of changes in promotional activity across months/weeks and all brands/classes and the affect on sales and selling margin.
Review assortment changes in all brands/classes and understand the impact to inventory as it relates to OTB and ending OH's.
Assess impact of category launches, exits, and relaunches to brand/class
Identify and assess impact of shifts in class plans that impact multiple brands simultaneously
Forecasting and Planning vendor funding
Assess impact of receipt flow and sales performance on vendor funding
Identify opportunities to leverage receipt flow to increase vendor funding
Participate in vendor performance management and performance tracking
Pre-Season Planning:
Analyze current business trends and historical data using fact based analysis for future season planning
Work with merchant and inventory partner to support development of merchandising and product flow strategies through analytics
Develop & communicate brand/class plans that incorporate shifts in strategies and business trends to Planning Manager that reconcile back to Departmental financial targets.
Develop & communicate promotional and key item forecasts in collaboration with merchandising that will be passed off to the Inventory team to execute
In Season Management:
Actively participate in business review meetings weekly with cross-functional team to highlight current business trends, identify and action on risks and opportunities.
Own communication of brand/class recap for all areas of responsibility including following up on meeting takeaways
Analyze promotional results and communicate to the team including recommended go forward strategies and address any liable inventory concerns
Responsible for OTB management at brand/class level in partnership with merchandising and inventory team to achieve inventory & turn targets.
Develop liability inventory strategies that minimize markdowns and maximize productivity
Own the execution of RTV's for all brands/classes and follow thru on reimbursement from vendor
Communicate OTB targets, risks, and opportunities at a brand/class level to inventory team
Communicate forecast for promotional items to the inventory team
Provide regular feedback to Planning Manager on any OTB risks/opportunities and monthly reconciliation to OTB targets
Weekly/Monthly review of brand/class forecasts and variance to plan, including upside plans as dictated by business trends and company strategies
Review completed promotional item forecasts with planning manager prior to delivering to inventory team for execution
Weekly reforecasting at brand/class level to achieve sales, margin, inventory targets
Manage financial plans for key vendors that reinforce merchant strategies and corporate expectations for driving profitability, achieving ROI, and setting vendor up for future growth
Partner with inventory team to identify issues affecting stores, DC's, and vendor partners such as over/under stocks, pricing, and product flow issues; develop solutions and manage the execution to get resolution of all outstanding issues
Support a collaborative and results-oriented environment with peers, cross-functional teams, and vendor partners to drive the business forward

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
