Mainframe Storage Engineer

This is a position requiring experience in mainframe storage. The Engineer must be comfortable in a multi-LPAR SYSPLEX environment with high availability requirements and must be able to work weekends and be part of the on-call rotation. Responsibilities include planning for and provisioning new or replacement storage hardware, and configuring the storage for disaster recovery. Day-to-day activities include monitoring and maintaining these environments and related storage software.
Configuration and support of an EMC DASD environment including SRDF replication.
Support of SMS/HSM including coding and maintenance of ACS routines; maintenance of Storage Groups and other SMS constructs; HSM parameters and commands.
Support of VSAM and of Catalogs.
Support of EMC DLM virtual tape.
Support of disaster recovery processes.
Perform software installation and maintenance including using SMP/E.
General z/OS support
Qualifications
Required Skills/
Experience:
10
years experience with z/OS storage in a DFSMS environment.
In-depth knowledge of VSAM and catalogs.
Experience with EMC DASD including SRDF.
Excellent problem determination skills.
Ability to work independently and under pressure.
Strong communication and documentation skills with proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
Working knowledge of z/OS tools and subsystems such as JES2, TSO, ISPF, ADRDSSU, SMP/E.
Knowledge of Storage Related tools such as CA1 , ISMFEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
