Department Overview The Data Governance Officer acts as the coordinator between Data Governance and the Line of Business (LOB) to achieve
Data Governance goals and objectives. The individual will work with LOB representatives to document and obtain
information regarding compliance with Regulatory and Corporate data practices and reviewing the information. This role
is responsible for working with different areas of the organization to ensure that implementation of Data Governance
principles, policies, and standards are incorporated for the specific LOB. The individual must be an advocate for Data
Governance.
Job Description
o The individual is responsible for
assisting in the development of the
strategic direction of Data Governance,
developing Data Governance policies,
procedures, and providing the
guidance to the assigned LOB in order
to meet the objectives of Data
Governance.
o This role is responsible for working
with different areas of the organizationGovernance principles, policies, and
standards are incorporated for the
specific LOB as well as facilitate and
assist in remediation initiatives for the
LOB.
o Provide a single point of contact for
interactions between the LOBs,
Information Management and Data
Governance initiatives to achieve
regulatory compliance
o Works with the Business Data Steward
to develop practices to support and
implement Data Governance policies,
and procedures are communicated and
implemented in assigned LOBs.
o Support the Business Data Steward in
initiating projects, defining
remediation, and implementing the
project.
o Develop strong working relationships
with both the LOB, Technology, and
Audit functions in order to work
collaboratively to respond to strategic
need. Excellent interpersonal,
teamwork and negotiation skills
o Coordinate Data Governance activities
with the LOB Data Steward and others
areas of the organization in order to
meet regulatory requirements.
o Guide the LOB Data Steward through
sessions and facilitate meetings with
other Data Stewards to address
different topics impacting the LOB.
o Actively support the assigned LOB by
advising on guidelines and providing
to ensure that implementation of Data
Qualifications
o B.S. or B.A. degree is required in
business study
o Minimum of 5-7years within a
financial organization and
experience as a Data Steward or a Subject Matter Expert
o Team?player comfortable working
with senior leadership as well as
junior colleagues.
o Excellent verbal and written
communication skills along with
excellent leadership and
organizational awareness skills
o Excellent analytical and problem
solving skills
Visio modeling and process mapping preferred.
Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
