GENERAL JOB
Summary:
The Network Management Engineer provides expertise and knowledge throughout the system or service project lifecycle: and has greater planning and technical expertise. They will analyze plans, specification, and contracts to determine system requirements, analyze plans, specifications, and contracts to determine system requirements and tests products, to ensure products meet specification requirements.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Working knowledge of all aspects of Network Management domain including full FCAPS (Fault, Configuration, Accounting, Performance, and Security) functions.
Participate in planning & design of Network Management capabilities.
Work with various vendors to understand network management solution and define future capabilities
Develop a common NM (Network Management) design to support various Data Services
Makes recommendations to management for telecom network design, and modifications including the procurement of supplies and equipment and direct vendor and user interface
Documentation experience included technical and process standards, specifications, and reports to the management such as weekly project status and monthly status.
Designing, writing, implementing, and maintaining test plans, test design specs, and test suites.
Designing, implementing, enhancing and analyzing performance test suites.
Actively involved in understanding all key business processes from System Architect team and worked closely with team to understand requirements & business flows.
Reporting quality assurance by generating roll up reports at end of each system test phase & providing inputs for post mortem.
Working constructively with development, hardware, management, and others to produce top quality products.
Worked closely with clients and other departments to ensure all deadlines met and projects completed to satisfaction.
Ensuring on time test deliverables as per schedule.
Provides on-site assistance with or performs the programming, start-up, checkout, commissioning and validation processes.
Participates in job site final walk-through on assigned jobs, completes all job closeout documentation and provides customer training.
Acts as a technical resource to existing customers and field employees as needed.
Coordinates work with subcontractors.
May be responsible for training lower level engineers and specialists
Must be able to perform all tasks with minimal supervision or coaching

Familiarity with key toolsets NMS develop and/or maintain include CA eHealth, HP Openview (OVO/NNM), OpenNMS, HP Service Desk, Nagios, Cacti, MRTG, Radiator, Bind DNS, CISCO Works and CISCO Secure ACS. NMS also develop many custom scripting, automation and web solutions that interact with network equipment and network element management systems.
Experience with MRTG and Nagios solution implementation
3-5 years': experience in telecommunication technology support (NOC), implementation (Service Delivery/IP Engineering) or network management. (Exposure to CISCO MPLS and ISP architectures/concepts in essential to the role)
EDUCATION AND
Experience:
BS degree in Electrical, Computer or Electronics Engineering is Preferred
Typically 1-5 years relevant experience
Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Operating Systems (Win. 2008, 2003, 7, XP)
Thorough knowledge of MS Office including Word, Excel, Visio, etc.
WORK ENVIRONMENT / PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
The employee will likely be placed in an office. The work environment characteristics are representative of those of an employee encounters while performing essential functions of the job in a typical office/workstation situation. Able to work sitting or standing at desk and operate a computer via standard input devices such as using a keyboard and reading information on a monitor.
A Network Management Engineer's workday is spent in the office or he/she may venture out to a job site depending on job requirements. When visiting a site, an Engineer must be prepared for conditions that may be unpleasant or even dangerous. The Engineer may find they are examining locations that are in poor condition in order to gather information on the project. He/she may also be exposed to general construction dangers from equipment or falling objects. Project environments can vary from pre-construction job sites to clean, air conditioned datacenters. Due to these requirements the engineer must comply with all conditions pertaining to Kratos safety programs.
