Yahoo currently has a Database Administrator position available at our office in Sunnyvale, CA. Duties: Plans computerized databases, including base definition, structure, documentation, sizing, capacity planning and protection to meet the needs of Yahoo businesses. Establishes operational guidelines and policies for monitoring, documentation. Ensures accuracy and completeness of data in master files and various support tools, such as base dictionaries. Establishes and maintains security and integrity controls. Formulates and monitors policies, procedures and standards relating to database management. Proposes and implements enhancements that will improve the performance and reliability of the system. Provides support and guidance to development teams and support production systems. Responsible for supporting applications on LAMP stack and applications running on Tomcat or any webserver and Oracle or Sql Server database. Application and database support on MySql, Oracle or Sql Server database. Responsible performance and monitoring databases, database tools and services. Responds to and resolves production issues for all corporate applications. Conducts research and makes recommendations on database products, services in support of planning efforts, including suggesting CPU patches and best practices for database.
REQUIREMENTS: Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related technical field followed by 5 years of progressive post-baccalaureate experience in job offered or a computer-related occupation.
Experience must include:
1. Database administration and IT/enterprise applications
2. Managing Oracle database, including Oracle DBA concepts and Oracle Real Application Clusters
3. Database performance tuning SGA, Sql, explain plan and AWR report
4. Backup & recovery procedures, security best practices
5. Automation (shell scripting, and general system programming knowledge)
6. Installation, upgrades, cloning and patching of oracle E-Business Suite environments (Database and Application Servers)
7. Performing DBA activities on Oracle E-Business Suite Instances such as Security Management, Space Management, User and Responsibility set-up, Performance Tuning & Monitoring, Concurrent Manager Monitor, defining printers, troubleshooting application technology stack issues and setup Oracle Alerts/Auditing.
