The Fund Accounting Manager in the Alternative Investment Funds department is responsible for ensuring the successful and accurate completion of the accounting and administrative servicing requirements for various hedge fund products and structures for assigned funds. This individual must also train and supervise a staff of accountants and supervisors and strictly enforce the departmental policies and procedures required to service alternative funds.
The responsibilities for this position may include some or all of the following:
Serve as main overall client operational contact for a range of clients
Maintain a good working relationship with external clients as well as with internal relationship managers
Ensure all established daily fund investment servicing and partnership accounting processing procedures and controls are completed accurately and timely
Train and manage staff accountants and supervisors on systems, processing, procedures and job responsibilities
Preparation of monthly management reports
Maintain a strong working relationship with clients, transfer agents, and the sales and service team
Review and approve month-end valuation prior to distribution to client with a goal of 100% accuracy
Earn confidence of assigned clients by demonstrating expertise in the area of offshore and domestic fund accounting and administration for alternatives funds
Authorization of wire payments from fund's escrow accounts
Problem and error resolution on a timely basis (with documentation)
Meet client month-end valuation and reporting deliverable deadlines
Coordinate human resource functions including hiring and periodic employee performance appraisals
Assist with the professional development of staff and supervisors
Ensure a seamless operational transition for new and converted funds from implementation to production mode from the implementation/conversion team
Participate on various departmental project teams
Assess new business and hiring needs
Stay abreast of current industry developments
Idea generation and ongoing assessment and improvement of operational service model
Ensure Anti-Money Laundering (AML) compliance standards are met
Position Requirements
BS/BA degree in business, finance or related field required
Minimum of 5 years of fund accounting experience, alternatives experience a plus
Minimum of 2 years supervisory or management experience
Knowledge and expertise of the Advent Partner, Investier and Invest One systems preferred
Team player

Physical Demands and Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the work environment may require an individual to move around the office and from building to building which may expose the individual to weather conditions outside. The individual has to be able to sit or be stationary at a computer and use computers for extended periods of time and occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. The noise level in the environment is moderate and the individual must be able to communicate and exchange information with people in person and over the telephone and email.
