THIS IS AN EXPEDITED HIRING AUTHORITY ANNOUNCEMENT. The Duncan Hunter National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) FY 2009 provides that the Secretary of Defense can designate acquisition positions as shortage positions and recruit and appoint highly qualified persons to these positions. This announcement is open to accept resumes from candidates interested in helping the Department of the Navy meet our mission requirements for the acquisition of systems, equipment and facilities.
This position is located in the Operations Division, Program Management Office, Strategic Systems Programs (PMOSSP) Detachment, Magna, Utah. As a Traffic Management Specialist, you will be responsible for the maintenance and usage of government owned Fleet Ballistic Missile (FBM) rocket motor transportation equipment, and serve as the command Industrial and Explosive Safety Program coordinator for rocket motor production and transportation issues.
You must be a US Citizen. Must be registered for Selective Service, see Legal & Regulatory Guidance. Suitable for Federal employment as determined by background investigation. Selectee may be required to successfully complete a probationary period. You must obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
Duties include:
responsibility for the maintenance of rocket motor transportation equipment to ensure availability and operability to support movement of rocket motors across CONUS
reviewing reports on equipment condition to coordinate appropriate actions to correct deficiencies, and reviewing reports on modifications and repairs made
writing technical requirements to be imposed in equipment maintenance contracts, assists contractor with subcontractor selection and negotiation, and monitors work and costs to support program needs
managing the rocket motor disposal program
coordinating and scheduling transportation equipment to support movement of Navy owned rocket motors from manufacturing facilities to strategic weapons facilities and between facilities
coordinating technical resolution and corrective actions for safety issues with PMOSSP Det engineering staff, DCMA, and the contractor to assure compliance with plant and explosive safety requirements

This position is covered under the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA) and requires additional education, training and experience. Occasional travel may be required.
Position requires standing, climbing in and out of rail cars and trucks, and lifting material such as boxes that do not exceed 50 pounds. Work is often performed in industrial settings around high explosives, transportation equipment, stacked materials, material-handling equipment in explosives manufacturing areas, rail yards, and industrial areas subject to changing weather conditions. Required to coordinate or observe disposal of explosive materials at remote locations. Some operations may require use of protective clothing.
Incumbent works 40-hours per week, and is on call after hours and on weekends to respond to shipping problems.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
