Administer human resource programs, procedures, and plans used in carrying out human resource responsibilities. Provide guidance to employees and managers on various routine to moderately complex human resource issues. Area of expertise may include one or more of the following specialties: employee relations, training, talent acquisition, affirmative action, EEO, compensation and training.
Conduct employee investigations (primary focus is Professional Driver population) under the guidance of HR Management. Prepare interview notes, document responses, and provide recommendation for resolution.
Drive people processes to ensure employee capabilities meet current and future standards.
Develop and promote feedback mechanisms for employees to influence the continuous improvement of HR services and process.
Ability to improve the performance of others through effective coaching.
Identify and drive the sharing of best practices across functions to facilitate continuous improvement.
Coordinate local implementation of enterprise and campus sponsored initiatives. These could include engagement survey, talent and succession management, and training initiatives.
Work with employees on a variety of employee relations issues. Collaborate with appropriate HR Management in determining next steps for resolution. Coach, counsel and guide managers before the execution of employee disciplinary actions. Provide appropriate and effective documentation. Ensure retention of documents are appropriately housed on the HR system.
Distribute, monitor and ensure that employee performance evaluations are completed in a timely manner.
Prepare and analyze various reports in conformance with legislated requirements or company needs.
Company representative for unemployment hearings. Meet with manager/supervisors to ensure complete understanding of the situation. Prepare managers for hearing, and participate in hearings.
Maintain close contact with the HR team to ensure alignment with corporate and business unit HR and the HR generalist team.
Capable of providing support and backup to other department functional areas, such as staffing, performance management, compensation, etc.
Assist with department projects as assigned.
Maintain knowledge of legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting human resources functions and ensures policies, procedures, and reporting are in compliance.
Collaboratively participate in a self-directed team environment.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Bachelor degree in Business or Human Resources preferred, and 3 plus years progressively responsible HR experience with generalist exposure to all HR functional areas. 2 years experience in managing the leave of absence programs for a large, complex organization
Working knowledge of employment laws, including EEO, ADA, FMLA, FLSA and Dept. of Labor regulations.
Strong ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely, effective manner. Ability to use reason when dealing with highly emotional and volatile issues.
Proven experience in conducting effective and timely investigations, managing issue to resolution and providing legally defensible documentation.
Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization
Excellent organization and planning skills.
Basic project management skills; time management skills; multi-task and prioritize work loads; demonstrated analytical capabilities; effectively identify and resolve problems in high visibility, high stress situations.
Strong interpersonal skills; work effectively in dynamic environment with a broad range of employees. Ability to build strong and effective working relationships throughout the company.
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office software, with solid capability in Excel (including formatting, formulas, etc.), PowerPoint and applicant tracking systems. HRIS programs and Visio required.
Solid active listening skills and presentation skills.
Able to work independently, display creativity and effectively manage several complex projects simultaneously under tight timelines.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
