Process Capability Leader's primary responsibility is to ensure the operations is optimized to achieve Business Unit needs This position will assist the Superintendent in directing and coordinating the Coater and Supercalender operations by carrying out responsibilities in a manner which will ensure maximum production, meeting all quality requirements in the most efficient, economical, and safest manner.
ESSENTIAL
Responsibilities:
Provides leadership relative to Health and Safety guidelines
Ensures Business Line, Operations, and Supply Chain are fully coordinated.
Converts Business Plan to daily operations Plan.
Provides technical expertise in the daily operations of the unit.
Assists Operators in resolving gaps between production and the plan.
Analyzes and allocates production losses.
Works with Process Availability Leader to ensure operating plan and reliability issues are coordinated
Creates PPM plan and its effects on the business, safety, and environmental concerns.
Facilitates development plans (training programs) for all employees in each area of responsibility.
Maintains effective working relationships with unions and all departments and levels in the organization.
Troubleshoots complex papermaking process issues.
Keeps abreast of new technology in the competitive environment.
Works in a team-based environment.
MINIMUM
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering, Paper Science and Engineering, or related field PLUS a Minimum of 3 years of mill production supervisory experience OR
Supervisory experience in Coater or Supercalender operations a plus
Any equivalent combination of education, training and experience
COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:
Excellent leadership, management, problem solving and decision making skills; prefer wet end and/or stock prep experience
Excellent communication skills - interpersonal, written, and verbal
Thorough understanding of unit operations, process equipment, and technology
Thorough understanding of the sales and operations planning process; production system capabilities and limitations; and knowledge of the different conversion costs associated with product mix
Ability to use statistical tools
Ability to collect relevant data, history trends, process information, Root Cause Analysis results, and other data to identify or troubleshoot process problems.
