Description: Global Science & Technology, Inc (GST), a growing scientific and high technology company, seeks an experienced Earth Science Imager Calibration Scientist to support the Hydrospheric and Biospheric Support Services (HBS) program at NASA. Position is located in Greenbelt, MD.
Duties: Position Description:
The Earth Science Imager Calibration Scientist position involves performance analysis and calibration of space flight remote sensing instruments throughout their life cycle. Will develop and utilize software for processing the data from instrument systems and related ancillary data sources to generate the first level data products. The work also involves instrument data analysis, statistical analyses, and modeling of sensor characteristics.
Qualifications: Required Education/Skills:
-Minimum of a Ph.D. degree with at least 10 years of professional experience or an equivalent combination of education and work experience is acceptable
-Solid analytic background in engineering, physics and mathematics.
-Working knowledge of IDL or Matlab, C, and FORTRAN.
- Solid written and oral communication skills.
Desired
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
-Experience with image processing and analysis.
-Expertise with optical instruments.
-Experience writing journal-quality papers, reports and memoranda.
-Effective oral communication and public presentations skills.
US citizenship or Permanent Resident (Green Card holder) is required.
