ABOUT THE FACILITY
Steele Memorial Medical Center (SMMC) is seeking a Chief Financial Officer. SMMC is a county owned, 25-bed Critical Access Hospital that is governed by a 9-member appointed Board.
18 beds are staffed with an ADC = 3.1.
The hospital's service area = 11,000 with 14 active physicians on staff and another 17 in consulting/courtesy roles.
Gross patient revenues = $28.5 million, net patient revenues = $18.9 million with A/R days = 69 (net). Hospital accounting software is CPSI.
SMMC is a full-service hospital providing OB-GYN, general surgery, orthopedics, dermatology, cardiology and oncology services.

THE OPPORTUNITY
The Chief Financial Officer is responsible for administering the general accounting, patient business services, including third party reimbursement, financial and statistical reporting functions of the hospital in accordance with established policies and accounting procedures.
This position works collaboratively with the CEO and governing Board in the development of long and short range hospital operations plans and capital budgets as supported by the hospital's long and short range objectives.
The CFO monitors the hospital's fiscal performance on realizing its established plans and objectives and identifies and reports undesirable trends with remedial action recommendations to the governing Board for final review and approval.
The CFO assumes a lead role in exploring and implementing means of managing and improving the financial performance of the hospital as well as oversees internal accounting controls, all areas of receivables management, and other business office systems and procedures to achieve efficiencies in the business office.

Salmon and Lemhi County (population 8,000) are located in the beautiful Valley of the Bitterroot Mountains in the Salmon National Forest.
Two rivers, the Salmon and Lemhi, run through town. Nearby is the Frank Church River of No Return Wilderness Area.

Qualifications:
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
License or Certification
CPA Preferred
Education and Experience
BS or BA in Accounting; MBA, and/or FHFMA preferred. Minimum 3-5 years of significant hospital financial experience as a hospital CFO or Assistant CFO in a larger hospital.
Must be capable of supervising general accounting, patient financial services, including registration, billing and collection, HIM, management info systems and materials management consistent with proper financial internal controls and operations for the corporation.
Strong leadership, communication and strategic skills.
