Summary:
This position will be responsible for the development, maintenance and support of new and existing custom business and manufacturing applications. The successful candidate will have the ability to complete projects quickly and accurately with minimal supervision. The successful candidate will be a self-starter with the ability and willingness to work as part of our corporate information technology team.
Education and
Experience:
Bachelor's degree or higher
5
years' experience programming with printing industry/manufacturing background
5
years' Progress Software programming experience including Progress Webspeed
Progress Software database administration expertise including field/table maintenance and dumps/loads
Proficient in Unix including HP-UX and Linux including scripting and cron
C
programming proficiency
Postscript programming experience; in depth PDF knowledge a plus
Essential Functions:
Perform daily maintenance, support/troubleshooting, and feature development for multiple application systems
Possess thorough knowledge of Progress Software programming
Possess a working knowledge of Progress Software DBA activities including adding fields, tables and indexes
Work with Sales & Marketing, Finance, Customer Service, Manufacturing and other internal/external clients to implement customer requirements
Have excellent communication and troubleshooting skills
Ability to prioritize own workload based on IT department methodology and be able to work on multiple projects
Create complex business logic based on existing capabilities and customer requirements
Possesses application design knowledge sufficient to create usable user interfaces
Possess Process Engineering understanding/experience sufficient to evaluate, recommend improvements, then lead the project after project approval in the following areas:
1. Process and discrete manufacturing, both Repetitive and Job Shop
2. Warehousing and shipping
3. Accounting and administrative functions
4. Automation of graphic manipulations
5. Business integration and conversions as necessitated by acquisitions and divestitures
Support applications systems up-time requirements
Ability/willingness to execute duties on nights/weekends to minimize systems/production downtime as needed
Possess aptitude to learn additional technology platforms as needed to support strategic initiatives
Comply with all Group policies and procedures
Perform other job functions as assigned by manager or designee
