Air Reserve Technicians (ARTs) are part of the regular civil service and enjoy all the benefits granted to Federal employees in the competitive civil service. In addition, ARTs are required to maintain active membership in an Air Force Reserve unit so long as they occupy Air Reserve Technician positions. As members of reserve units, ARTs receive on average one weekend of military training per month. In addition, they are eligible for 15 days active duty tour each year for which military leave is granted with full civilian pay. Air Reserve units and members are subject to immediate call to active duty in mobilization to meet a national emergency.

The primary purpose of this Air Reserve Technician (ART) Enlisted position is to serve provide management oversight to all military personnel in the Major Command (MAJCOM) Communication Cooperation Center (MCCC) performing work in the MCCC. Perform work involving knowledge operations, applications, databases, computer networks (NIPRNET/SIPRNET) with requirements of knowledge operations processing methodology technology, computer capabilities, processing techniques, and workflow architecture.
Responsible for performing tasks related to overall management and security of the Air Force Reserve (AFRC) Communications Cooperation Center (CCC).
Performs oversight of all knowledge operations management within the MCCC.
Performs social studies and participates in special projects or assignments related to planning, evaluating, monitoring and coordinating functions related to Communications/Information systems, knowledge operations, and networks.
You must have at least one year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or qualifying pay band under other pay systems in the Federal service which has given you the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities as shown below required to successfully perform the duties of this position. Experience which provides a thorough knowledge of Communications & Information Management Specialist. (To be creditable, specialized experience must meet the above quality level requirements).
(1) Knowledge of information management programs, procedures, and requirements such as PA/FOIA, records management,publications and forms management, RCS reports. (2) Knowledge computer systems, applications and operating systems. Must maintain current in technological developments of computer systems and applications. (3) Knowledge of overall communications and information systems, processes, applications, techniques, policies, directives, and technology to be applied for the purposes of developing analyzing, refining, and improving support. (4) Knowledge of management practices, military organizational theory and structure, Air Force and Air Force Reserve Command (AFRC), intermediate and gaining command structures and relationships, and mobilization directives and practices. (5) Knowledge of Air Force Information Protection Programs, (Information/Security) procedures and practices as applied to Communications Information and Computer Systems.
Substitution of Education for
Experience: A Ph.D. (LL.M. or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree.

Position may or will require incumbent to: (1) Fly in military and/or commercial aircraft in the performance of temporary duty (TDY) assignments. (2) This is an ART enlisted position. Incumbent is required to meet and maintain Air Force Reserve requirements. Incumbent's regular assignments are primarily ART duties: however, the incumbent may be assigned some non-ART duties, generally not to exceed 30 percent of total responsibilities. (3) Must be able to obtain and retain appropriate security clearance. (4) May be required to obtain maintain required professional/technical certifications. (5) May be required to work shift work or uncommon tours of duty including weekends, holidays, and any hours of the day or night (i.e. shift work). (6) May be subjecte to on-call or stand-by. May be required to participate in recalls due to contingencies or emergencies.
