Job Summary
The Authentic Local Equity (ALE) brands represent approximately 20% of the global Skin Cleansing category with over 1BN in turnover, cutting across all formats (liquids, bars, liquid hand wash, other). ALE consists of a portfolio of more than 30 brands placed into 4 platforms (freshness, nature, pure & gentle and family brands) as well as opportunities for new business and licensing. The selected candidate will independently manage Innovations and all GDC-related responsibilities for one of the platforms or technology areas, working with global BD and SC partners, as well as Skin Cleansing Design partners and regional Deploy partners, to deliver against all R&D; Design deliverables. Important knowledge and applications required as part of a Design role such as reapplication of Unilever technologies, commercializing technologies in key markets, meeting action standards for consumer and clinical performance, stability, GMs, conformance with appropriate laws and regulations, competitive understanding, and developing strong collaborative relationships within R&D; and with non-Development functions will be required.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Apply sound, basic knowledge of chemistry and related technical and laboratory principles in developing, modifying and reapplying cleansing technologies for global Innovation, exploratory (as appropriate), and VIP/harmonization programs, ensuring physical and active stability, preservation, efficacy, consumer appeal, process ability, cost effectiveness, product/package compatibility. Ensure formula complies with internal Unilever safety guidelines as well as external laws and regulations.
Transition formula to pilot plant and track through commercialization. Must have a basic understanding and application of project management skills.
Must demonstrate the ability to understand and follow basic instructions, able to express thoughts in a clear and concise manner, prepare routine technical reports, participate and voice technical opinions and perspectives in meetings, and work well within R&D; and with non-R&D; functions as appropriate.
With appropriate supervision, must possess the ability to present information to a technical audience.
Maintain effective and timely communication of project status with both management and partner functions. Ensure coordination of support group efforts to meet project timelines
Key Requirements
BS or other in Chemistry, Chem. Engineering, Pharmacy, or related field. with Internship experiences . to direct product development, specifically formulation development. Surfactant, body wash and bars experience a plus. Must be able to direct task work of temporary employees and/or co-op students. Must be team player with ability to solve technical problems, maintain effective and timely communication of project status with both management and Brand. Ensure coordination of support group efforts to meet project timelines and be self-directed in pursuit of flawless execution.
