Job
Summary:
As a Applications Engineering Manager (CSOA), chosen candidate will be responsible for developing proposals and supporting related business activities focused on original equipment capital projects. This includes overseeing workload of Applications Engineers leading to contracts for pumps and associated equipment and monitoring and mentoring the career development of members of the Application Engineering Team through detailed training plans specific to the needs of the individual.
The responsibilities include interpretation of job-specific and industry standard specifications written for the construction of pumps and all accessories, pump sizing and selection, material selections, and related issues, accurate cost estimates, and the dissemination of complete, clear and concise order transfer instructions. This position requires direct interaction with sub-suppliers, Manufacturing, Procurement, Production Control, Engineering, Flowserve Sales Engineers / Specialists and Flowserve management.
Candidate must be well organized to be able to multitask and effectively deal with multiple deadlines. The applicant should be a self-starter willing to accept responsibility in an environment conducive to personal growth and use sound business practices in order to effectively carry out their responsibilities.
Some travel, both domestic and international may be required.
Accountabilities:
Qualify incoming opportunities to make bid / no-bid decisions
Provide training, mentoring, continuing education, support, guidance and development of Application Engineers.
Develop, implement and enhance tools for improving the efficiency and accuracy of the departmental functions.
Establish and maintain department processes and procedures.
Review and approval of cost estimates for proposals within established guidelines.
Meeting departmental customer satisfaction, cost estimating and on-time performance metrics.
Ownership, maintenance and continuous improvement of the order transfer process.
Provide timely customer follow-up to open opportunities.
Pro-actively manage opportunities utilizing CRM systems to maintain accurate sales projections, next step actions and customer expectations.
Coordinate and participate in establishing the value of a solution to the customer.
Continually improve customer satisfaction performance by developing processes, systems and behaviors, as measured by on-time performance, cycle time, cost of quality and customer service surveys.
Provide Sales support activities such as generating installation lists, preparing vendor qualification documents, coordination of complex sales and travel as required to assist with closing of sales.
Collaborate with Platform/Sales/Marketing/Product Management to support and develop new business growth opportunities with new product development, custom engineered solutions and innovative manufacturing.
Support a positive SHEA culture to reduce lost time injuries and recordable accident frequency rate and maintain a safe hazard free work environment.
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
Strong management skills with 5
years of experience managing a technical team
8
years of experience in sales support, applications engineering, sales, and/or project management
Rotating equipment and HI / API / ISO standards experience preferred.
Excellent communication, presentation and organizational skills are required.
Computer experience and Microsoft Office proficiency is a must. Knowledge of Flowserve business processing systems a plus.

Percentage of Approximate Travel Required 10%
