DESCRIPTION
Under the supervision of the Plant Manager responsible for troubleshooting, repairing and routine maintenance of Central Utility plant and power generation instrumentation, control systems and electrical equipment. Will repair, test, and calibrate systems and equipment and diagnose equipment problems. Assigned lead duties and responsibilities include: inspection of work assignments of immediate crew for quality control and completion of tasks and advising supervisor of delays, problems and work assignments in progress. Assist in directing contracted vendors and resolving questions regarding services performed. This is a non-watch standing position.
Physical ability to perform essential job functions.
Ability to move through limited access spaces and cover distances on foot to widely separated work sites.
Ability and willingness to work overtime, extended shift hours, call-outs or emergency call-back hours, holidays and weekends as needed.
QUALIFICATIONSThorough journey-level knowledge and experience of Central Utility and Cogeneration Plant systems, pumps, piping, electronic and pneumatic controls; i.e. dead band, plant steam systems, high temperature hot water systems, compressed air systems, refrigeration, air conditioning compressors and controls, water systems and other related controls and systems.
Knowledge of test performed for systems operations with ability to determine repair needs and effectively communicate them to supervisor. Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot operational problems and make necessary adjustments or repairs.
Demonstrated experience reading and interpreting blueprints and system diagrams. Substantial knowledge and understanding of engineering fundamentals with respect to systems and equipment.
Ability to effectively communicate orally, in writing or electronically, and work effectively in a service oriented environment subject to frequently changing priorities.
Experience in a Central Utility Plant, Combined Cycle or Cogeneration Power Plant or related industrial environment. Includes safety practices, electrical inspection procedures, basic chemistry principles, power plant processes, theories and principles of power plant operations.
Strong experience and understanding of electrical and electronic principles.
Demonstrated experience and understanding of Continuous Emissions Monitoring Systems (CEMS).
Some experience tuning and troubleshooting GE Fanuc and Allen Bradley Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC's).
Experience with electrical and instrumentation aptitude involving the operation and or maintenance of industrial equipment, preferably of the type used in a Cogeneration Power Plant.
Comprehensive experience; working knowledge of power plant equipment operation.
Experience using computer skills for data analysis, including MS Office products, email, and Internet.
Demonstrated experience in Distributed Control Systems (DCS) tuning; control loop troubleshooting and design.
Demonstrated ability to read and interpret electrical, mechanical process drawings and P&ID's.
Excellent communication skills and interaction with coworkers, supervisors and contractors. Teamwork is a must.
Ability to work alone or with help to diagnose and correct electrical, instrumentation and controls problems.
Experience documenting processes including; work orders reports & work history, cost tracking, parts usage, labor costs and job procedures.SPECIAL CONDITIONSDOJ/FBI and DMV background clearances required prior to hire.
