UNC General Administration (UNC System Office), Chapel Hill, NC seeks a Research Director. The Research Director will provide centralized coordination for strategic initiatives in capacity building for priority areas identified by the NC General Assembly and the UNC Strategic Directions, including: manage a competitive process for the distribution of resources in the six research areas to achieve goals of strategic initiatives; facilitate the formation of consortia in one or more strategic areas of excellence; lead consortia in the analysis of strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats; maintain communication with consortia for collaborative and funding opportunities; determine criteria and measure outcomes and impacts of initiatives; report outcomes to UNC Board of Governors, NC General Assembly and/or other stakeholders. In addition, the Research Director will support activities in: commercialization of UNC research and discovery in any discipline; undergraduate research across the system; communication of UNC research to internal and external audiences.
