Position Overview/
Summary: As an attorney with the Law Offices of Terkowitz & Hermesmann,
house counsel for the Hanover Insurance Group, this position requires the handling of liability cases in civil litigation from the inception of the lawsuit until conclusion through dismissal, settlement or trial. The successful candidate will be required to work with adjusters and clients to resolve claims as expeditiously and efficiently as possible.
Responsibilities/
Essential Functions:
Handles a caseload involving moderate to high exposures pending throughout the State of New Jersey.
To the extent the candidate is licensed in Pennsylvania, may also be called upon occasionally to handle moderate to high exposure cases in the Philadelphia area.
Exposures principally involve auto liability and general liability claims, including cases involving such risk transfer issues as indemnity and additional insurance coverage.
Independently conducts trials, pre-trials, mediations, arbitrations or any other legal activity required to resolve cases.
Advises claim professionals on the evaluations of legal files.
Provides legal advice to clients and other claim professionals as needed.
Negotiates settlements as directed.
Attends round tables.
Position Requirements:
Must be licensed to practice law in the State of New Jersey.
Pennsylvania licensure is not required, but would be considered a plus.
A minimum of 10 years of experience in automobile and general liability matters, including first-chair jury trial experience would generally be preferred. However, a lesser number of years of experience might be considered for otherwise qualified candidates.
Must demonstrate ability to effectively analyze issues, pro-actively develop effective strategies on pending cases, communicate effectively both in writing and verbally, communicate regularly with claims professionals, document communication and resolve cases as efficiently and effectively as possible.
Must have solid experience in preparing answers, handling appearances, motion practice, valuation of claims, settlement and trials.
Must have the ability to work independently, handle claims efficiently, and be willing to travel as necessary.
Experience working with an electronic case management system and in a shared support environment would be considered a plus.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
