Our Corporate Procurement department in Freeport Maine, is seeking to fill a permanent position as a Senior Procurement Agent , focusing on Retail Construction and Operations. The preferred candidate will have extensive experience in store construction and operations procurement procedures and practices.
This position will provide corporate-wide procurement leadership, expertise and support to the Retail Channel (stores), including our Outdoor Discovery Schools (ODS) through benchmarking; sourcing vendors; executing and preparing RFx's; preparing bids; reviewing and negotiating contracts, supporting the business in managing ongoing vendor contract performance and identifying cost savings opportunities, where appropriate. Strong collaboration and relationship building focus is required. Supervise assigned personnel as requested.
1. Procure goods and services in assigned commodity group(s).
Analyze and determine client material or service needs, solve problems, conduct tests, and ensure cost effective solutions, integrating operating systems corporate-wide where appropriate. Document project activity, analysis and savings
Develop material or service specifications and purchase through competitive quotations and/or negotiations
Solve operational problems or meet client goals through capital equipment purchasing, including specification development, quotations/negotiations, purchase and implementation
Conduct market research, interview/meet with prospective vendors, study trends, and develop new sources of supply
Educate and/or train customers in the effective use of materials or services
Visit vendor offices/plants to assess facilities, capacity and ability to meet quality requirements, specifications and delivery
Perform value analysis of current or proposed purchases to ensure cost effectiveness and operating efficiency
Establish corporate-wide standards for applicable materials and services for least life cycle cost, in conjunction with the business
Coordinate and execute leases as appropriate
Research and present recommendations on cost savings or avoidance opportunities
Assist in the development and implementation or procurement policies and procedures
Resolve billing and delivery discrepancies with vendors and accounts payable
Ensure continuity of supply on critical operating supplies and services
Facilitate vendor relationships to maximize goodwill and maintain a reputation for honesty, fairness, and integrity
2. Lead and execute the RFx process for business areas, providing process and leadership to ensure that the lowest total cost of ownership is achieved with the appropriate level of service and quality. Negotiate the most favorable pricing.
3. Lead and execute the preparation of bids and the negotiation and execution of contracts. Support the business in managing the ongoing vendor contract performance.
Meet with internal customers, partnering to establish business financial goals and ensure that the contract/legal work necessary to support those goals are achieved. You will also partner with the business on ongoing communication with vendors and internal customers on contract services

Support business areas in managing vendor relationships and contracts to provide high-quality, high-value services to LLB users.

5. Manage the preparation of applicable operating and capital budgets.
6. Support and participate in Corporate Procurement initiatives and changes that are occurring.
7. May supervise personnel as requested.

Establish performance objectives, assign and direct work, monitor work and appraise performance
Coach and develop employees in job related skills through work assignment, direct training and regular feedback, both positive and negative
Administer/recommend wages and salaries
Resolve routine personnel problems following company policies and procedures
Assist employees in identifying personal development needs and assessing available resources
Communicate company policies and procedures
Monitor and adjust staffing levels to meet work requirements
Prepare, maintain and update personnel records
Direct seasonal planning needs for department business
Reduce work related injuries and illnesses and associated lost work time

BA/BS in Business/Other; MBA preferred
CPSM designation preferred
5-7 years experience in procurement
1-2 years experience in project management
