Duties: Perform database systems development, planning and analysis, design, development, and testing. Utilize architectural and database technical expertise concerning methods, procedures, and standards to be used during design and development phases. Maintain application performance and scalability. Perform performance tuning on SQL queries, table design, indexing, query plan analysis, and SQL refactoring. Develop and maintain technical documentation and operational procedures for areas of responsibility. Investigate and fix defects in pre- and post-release phases. Prepare and deploy complex schema updates, data migration, and ETL scripts. Follow and contribute to team standards, and utilize industry best practices. Provide leadership within the team with respect to complex database technologies and topics.
Requirements: Employer will accept Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, followed by 5 years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered or in a computer-related occupation. In the alternative, Employer will also accept Masters degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, followed by 3 years of experience in the job offered or in a computer-related occupation.
Experience must include:
1. Designing and Development on RDBMS platforms using SQL Server/Teradata/Oracle in a professional team environment;
2. Providing technical leadership to teams of three or more engineers and mentoring less experienced engineers;
3. Creation of database objects, including Tables, Views, Triggers, Indexes, Stored Procedures, and User Defined Functions;
4. Database modeling and design with a focus on performance and scalability;
5. Experience with one or more ETL tools;
6. Performance tuning, troubleshooting and resolution of complex database issues on large-scale databases (> 10 Terabytes);
7. Translating business functionality and requirements into technical directions and specifications.
Up to 50% travel required to various, unanticipated domestic and international locations.
