Purpose:
Responsible for following Medical Tubing extrusion/process engineering projects through from conception and into production.
Responsibilities:
Drives efforts to reduce variability in the extrusion department and shop floor.
Upgrades existing manufacturing equipment.
Executes capital projects for new equipment on time and within budget.
Addresses trouble-shooting issues to close out NCRs and customer complaints.
Leads process control and automation efforts for new and existing equipment.
Simultaneously lead multiple engineering projects.
Maintains and updates engineering drawings.
Reviews electrical requirements with respect to input and output devises and machine sequences with controls engineering.
Produces CAD drawings and bills of materials for equipment, sub-assemblies and/or components.
Communicates the status of projects to management.
Determines tools, fixtures and equipment to be used in fabrication and assembly of mechanical components and complete assemblies.
Researches available technologies with the objective of improving product quality, reducing cost and/or increasing capacity.
Creates manufacturing procedures and trains production personnel on new processing techniques.
Establishes process capabilities for existing and new processes. Enhances capabilities as necessary.
Mentors other engineers on best-in-class manufacturing practices.
Creates machine performance specifications as needed.
Qualifications
BS in Mechanical, Industrial, Chemical or Plastics Engineering. MS or PhD preferred.
Certified Six Sigma Green Belt. Black Belt preferred.
Working knowledge of processing plastics such as: LDPE, HDPE, PTFE, FEP, Polyamides or PVDF.
Excellent mechanical design skills.
Proficient in advanced problem solving skills.
In-Depth knowledge of manufacturing methods and systems.
In Depth knowledge of statistical process control
5 years of medical device manufacturing experience is preferred
Strong computer skills (MS Word, Excel, Project and AutoCAD).
Outstanding organizational skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
