Meet with various project teams to understand scope of requirements and create detailed functional documents in Word; formulate new strategies for Business Analytics data needs and data management; lead the development and execution of custom processes for supporting business analytics and reporting; analyze requirements for retail industry standard financial reports, forecasts, replenishments and Allocation analytics; create data models to support reporting requirements and additional analytics dimensions like weather factors, comparables and location factors and specific to databases like Teradata, Netezza, Oracle and DB2; create dimensional data models in Erwin that scale for large scale of data for various reporting needs like Financial Reporting, Financial Forecasting, Replenishment planning and reporting; identify deficiencies that cause delays in daily data operations and provide solutions for them; identify and handle data anomalies in daily operations to provide a single view of the enterprise data for reporting tool Microstrategy; create functional specs for new operations from the business requirements documents; create work estimates for ETL in IBM Infosphere platform; create extract, calculate and load processes that process large volume of data and scales better for increasing data needs; support complex applications on Clustered or Grid environments; identify hardware limitations and provide solutions to work around these limitations; identify opportunities on a current set up to provide better performance for data movement and conversions based on specific environments; analyze large environments with multi-terabyte data volume in Teradata, Netezza, Oracle and DB2; develop extensive staging data models for handling disparate data sources like XML, Complex Flat files, fixed width flat files, POS systems from Oracle or IBM; data profiling to identify data issues and recommend ideas for resolution using Information Analyzer or Talend Data Profiling; analyze, exploit and present insights to add value to existing business processes; perform data analysis of the internal and external source data and develop and integrate algorithms and computational solutions to identify new solutions and maximize the model outcomes derived for JDA applications for Replenishment; analyze the existing the environments to understand the system limitations and tune existing parameters to improve performance; manage timely flow of business intelligence information to users; maintain or update data management tools, databases, servers, systems, or methods; extract and collect data for performing queries and writing reports; review queries for performance issues, making changes as needed; work closely with the users, business analysts to understand the business requirements to create the technical documentation and design; operational reviews to ensure operational structure are aligned to market and fit for purpose; create Ad-hoc projects at the request from senior management as part of Proof of Concepts for future business processes; delegate work to and manage offshore resources of multiple teams to provide a better application integration with the current business operations; produce maintainable scripts for table creation and modification using Erwin between various environments; debug installation issues for DataStage Environment for versions 8.1 and higher on Linux Servers; tune long running datastage jobs in Standalone, Cluster and Grid environments; review and approve ETL designs and program code; build test Data and test ETLs for all phases of testing (Unit, Systems Integration and User Acceptance); create System Documentation, Transition to Sustain and Change Management documents; apply Patches and Software Upgrades to Application; performance tune the applications grid/cluster set up and ensure that the environments have the latest set up recommendations. Requires Bachelors degree in Computer Science, MIS, Financial Engineering or related field or foreign equivalent plus certifications for Teradata, IBM QualityStage/DataStage and 5 years progressive experience (or Masters degree in Computer Science, MIS, Financial Engineering or related field or foreign equivalent plus certifications for Teradata, IBM QualityStage/DataStage and 3 years experience) to include developing custom software and supervising full lifecycle application development; analyzing, designing, and developing software applications, products, and databases; leading developers and development teams to ensure fulfillment of project requirements; developing software applications using IBM Infosphere Datastage/Qualitystage, Information Analyzer, Infosphere Fastrack, Infosphere Master Data Management, Infosphere Change Data Capture, Microstrategy, IBM Cognos, Erwin, Toad, DB2, Oracle, Teradata, Netezza, Websphere, Linux, Unix, AIX; studying Transactional databases to understand the table relations, structures and data availability; studying IBM U2 Transactional databases for possible data quality issues and data reconciliation for End-Of-Day transactions and financial reporting; providing guidance to Data Analysis team and ETL team on mapping for outbound feeds meant for MQ processing and application needs; designing and constructing tables in ODS and Staging areas for Dimensional and Transactional data; performing sizing tests to understand the volume of data available for a given time period; creating and implementing SCD Type 2 on Dimensional data; creating ETL processes using Infosphere Information Server jobs to extract data loads from Transactional Universe database to an Oracle ODS for historical and daily transactions and dimension data updates; presenting size requirements and partitioning requirements for ODS tables in Oracle; creating feeds and performing data validation for Conversion process from KNG R12 Transactional data structures to TMW compatible data structures; performing analysis on ecommerce requirements for KNG data and performing necessary changes in ODS to handle the changes for Attributes; taking part in Data Readiness process for Quantisense Reports (third party reporting product for Merchandisers) built in Infobright Mysql database; deciphering triggers, stored procedures and data extracts used in Sybase for daily loads from Universe database; providing sample extracts to Quantisense and creating daily and historical feeds using Infosphere Information Server; studying the impact of integrating transactional systems across brands and changes required in the ODS to accommodate all transactional instances; studying the requirements for Finance, Marketing and Audit reports and providing ETL solutions to accommodate them; taking part in the mapping exercise for Supply Chain Management systems and providing insights for sourcing data from ODS table structures; correcting ETL processes in Infosphere Information Server for providing Sales and Customer data from transactional database to Marketing for Promotions and Sales related reporting; correcting processes in Call Center data marts that are needed by Marketing for Lead generation and campaign information; creating table structures and ETL processes to support the Call Center campaigns and related reports used for audits by Marketing; developing jobs for Audit purposes and to check for data quality in the ODS; using Metastage to perform impact analysis on various projects for changes in ODS table structures due to Universe database changes while accommodating POS requirements; using Talend Open Profiler to compute statistics and gauge data quality for large tables for performance tuning; designing Infosphere Information Server Jobs to replace SSIS as ETL Tool for merchandise planning data mart that uses Microstrategy for Reporting; using External tables for validation of any outbound feeds (XMLs or Flat Files); experimenting with Nested tables in Oracle to handle Universe Functionality and improve data compression; working on Production Support in rotation and providing quick turn-around on Production failures.
