Our Marengo, IL campus is looking for a Tool Room Machine Operator who can learn quickly in order to work independently and with little direction. We are looking for someone who is mechanically inclined, good with their hands, self-driven, and possesses excellent time management, resource/supply management and communication skills.
Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will enjoy working on a variety of machines and maintian job and production records. Specific responsibilities include setup and operate one type of tool room machine; such as:lathe, internal cylindrical, surface grinder or tool grinder.
Setups are exacting but not complex.
Select speeds, feeds and tooling for the range of work.
Maintain specified tolereances.
Assist higher grade machinists on tooling operations as necessary.
Sharpen tools, learn setups, selection of tools, speeds and feeds.
EDUCATION:
High School Diploma or the equivalent, GED is required.
EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS :
Minimum two (2) years of experience in the following key areas: - Must be familiar and practice safe operating procedures, including the necessity for Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Demonstrate ability to work from written and verbal instructions, read and interpret blueprints.
Must be able to do basic math (add, subtract, mulitiply, divide, fractions and percentages)
Must have a working knowledge of machine operation. - Capable of producing precise and quality work.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Standard work week is Monday through Friday, hours to be consistent with business unit; some off hours work expected
Daily periodic lifting and carrying materials and parts up to 40 pounds.
Working in a production environment
MACHINES/EQUIPMENT USED: Micrometers, depth gauges, indicator for precise measuring.
