Description:
Maintains database by identifying and solving database requirements; supporting users. The candidate will complement the existing DBA team providing independent, proactive management of the existing Oracle Application Server Infrastructure and databases (improvements, tuning, and overall administration). Will be expected to take the initiative and proactively identify and suggest/implement solutions to problems before they become systems performance impacting issues. Provide Oracle Applications and database administrative support to the development team, which includes, but is not limited to, managing development databases, tuning, and handling code migrations from development to testing to production.
Responsibilities:
Identifies database requirements by interviewing customers; analyzing department applications, programming, and operations; evaluating existing systems and designing proposed systems.
Recommends solutions by defining database physical structure and functional capabilities, database security, data back-up, and recovery specifications.
Installs revised or new systems by proposing specifications and flowcharts; recommending optimum access techniques; coordinating installation requirements.
Administration and management of databases in development, staging, and production environments.
Anticipate hardware requirements and storage capacity planning for scalable database growth and performance.
Troubleshoot and handle all database related issues through to resolution
Proactive monitoring of databases both from a performance and capacity management perspective.
Maintains database performance by calculating optimum values for database parameters; implementing new releases; completing maintenance requirements; evaluating computer operating systems and hardware products.
Supports database functions by designing and coding utilities.
Maintains quality service by establishing and enforcing organization standards.
Data modeling and Oracle database design.
Data interface protocols.
Develop and implement replication, archiving and backup and recovery strategies.
Predicting future Oracle trends for hardware usage and user load.
Bachelors Degree in a Computer Science or related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work experience.
5-8 years of related database administration experience, to include:
Database Performance Tuning, Database Security, Promoting Process Improvement, Problem Solving, Presenting Technical Information, Database Management, Data Maintenance, Operating Systems, Information Security Policies. Proficient with recent Oracle database 11g ( ) and features
5 Years' experience in Oracle 11g DBA for Windows systems
Installation and configuration of Oracle database products
Monitor health and status of database systems; perform routine maintenance of log files, trace files, etc.
Perform RMAN (Recovery Manager) backup and recovery procedures when needed
Write SQL and PL/SQL - Experience with triggers, stored procedures, functions
Knowledge of Real Application Clusters (RAC) databases
Experience with SQL Server 2005, 2008 and 2012
Must be US citizen.
Must have a minimum active Secret clearance. Prefer a TS clearance.
