Senior Software Design Engineer

Responsible for the design, development, modification, and evaluation of software components and systems. Includes multiple products, complex designs, new technology for successful product launches for embedded automotive multimedia and Navigation devices. Responsible for the development of Embedded programming using Assembly, C and C++. Responsible for full life cycle embedded firmware development for products, designing with microprocessors and micro-controllers. Lead project team meetings and evaluate and schedule all changes in scope of product design and delivery. Analyze and resolve product issues and defects involving software engineering, electrical engineering and systems engineering disciplines. Lead developers and suppliers in task assignments, software design, prioritizing, planning, testing and reporting of project status to management. Interface with customers in software development and conduct requirements, design code and test plan reviews. Integrate software modules and implement software processes. Design software for electrical subsystems and provide technical directions to development team. Generate and analyze test data and reports to determine if design meets functional and performance specifications. Responsible for the bring-up of first HW samples and develop RTOS BSPs and drivers. Evaluate chip sets for telematics products and formulate selection criteria for software assets. Develop protocols for interprocessor communication systems, AM-FM-SDARS Tuner functions, CD and Real Time clock functions. Engage in HMI interface development using QT/QML. Engage in Bootloader, CAN, GMLAN and FNOS integration activities. Perform software design using UML design methodologies, software configuration management using Rational Clearcase, software planning/tracking using Rational Team concert (Jazz) and code analysis using Static code analyzers. International travel may be required.
Five (5) years of postgraduate progressive experience in the specialty field.
Bachelors Degree in Electronics Engineering or a related field of study.
