Responsible for the supervision of a medium size group of employees engaged in the activities and functions of material handling. These responsibilities include, but are not limited to, storage, production scheduling, dispensing and controlling of raw material, in-process and finished goods. Work entails a number of involved clerical operations or technical duties with decisions made within the limits of general practices, standards and policies. Work performed under general supervision while exercising significant independent judgment. Must be able to work any shift.
Trains, develops and evaluates employees
Monitors, controls and publishes inventory reports and shipping reports
Supervises maintenance of all master records and shipping documents
Coordinates material handler/production control activities and related areas including warehouse, shipping, quality control and manufacturing
Maintains safety and good housekeeping standards
Regular contact with others outside the work group
Builds effective relationships with the internal customers
Complies with the terms of local and national labor agreements
Support Material Team Members
Empower Material Team Leaders to grow, develop and effectively coach team members
Leads problem solving activities with Team Leaders and Team Members to identify and resolve issues and implement improvement initiatives.
Effectively prioritize multiple issues, questions and follow up requirements to meet customer needs short term and long term.
Qualifications
Basic Required
Planning and organizational abilities
Oral and written communications skills
High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others, motivate employees, and elicit work output
High level of analytical ability where problems are unusual and difficult
Basic Preferred
Automotive experience preferred
Knowledge of scheduling and inventory control systems Material/Logistics experience
Plant manufacturing experience
