Network Administrator

Company Name:
Sprocket Professional Services
Our client is a fast growing leader in the Transportation, Warehousing and Third Party Logistics Industry. They are a full service logistics provider offering consolidation, transloading, store delivery, freight forwarding, customs brokerage, and freight brokerage, with transportation, warehouse and yard management systems solutions. Their goal is to provide cost effective supply chain solutions in order to create competitive advantages for our customers. Currently we are seeking a Network/Systems Administrator to take ownership of the IT Support function out of the Corporate Headquarters in Kearny, NJ.
Responsibilities/Technologies:
All candidates must be highly analytical and very strong (relentless) problem solvers. They will be one of the only on-site Support Techs and as such need to be able to analyze, diagnose and resolve any issues that arise. Ideally they will do this without having to call someone for help, be it internally or via a managed service provider. However, this person will also need to realize when they are spending too much time trying to diagnose a problem and when it is appropriate to call for help. Candidates should not expect to sit and wait to be told what to do, but rather take the initiative to identify issues which need to be addressed.
This person will be working in a Windows environment (PC's, Servers, etc). Duties include PC repair, Printer repair, RF (barcode) scanner repair, network repair (running/re-wiring cables, etc), managing the firewall, and more. SW support is also involved in this role, along the lines of email support (Outlook) and Active Directory work (adding/deleting users, setting up user accounts, etc). Candidates must be able to troubleshoot network failures. This is a warehouse environment, not a sit-at-a-desk-in-the-office environment. Things get broken often and this person will be moving from one issue to the next. For example, a forklift may drop a package which catches a bundle of wires on the way down and rips them out. This person will be responsible for climbing up and re-running the wires. It is a dirty job that will have this person doing physical, hands on repairs to any and all IT hardware. The network consists of Cisco routers/switches, but is managed by a 3rd party so specific Cisco experience is not necessary but is nice to have. In addition to repairing hardware, candidates will also be required to set up new PC's/Desktops/Workstations.
Candidates will also be supporting the telephones and experience doing so is a plus (Client uses IP Office but that specific SW is not required).
In general, this is NOT a day spent sitting at a desk responding to tickets, but rather staying busy with any necessary repairs or optimization. The right candidate will look/ask for something else to do once what they have completed is off of their plate.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
