L.L.Bean is currently searching for a Business Intelligence Delivery Architect to join our Information Services department based in Freeport, Maine. The BI Delivery Architect is responsible for activities related to the architecture, design, development, implementation, and support of the business intelligence delivery environment. This includes applying a full range of experience and skills including the assessment and understanding of the business needs/requirements, data modeling and the subsequent development of viable solution(s) - (e.g. reports, dashboards, cubes) in support of enterprise-wide decision making. The role includes coaching and mentoring others and bringing best-practice methodologies through the execution of business projects.
Additionally, the BI Architect will work with business users and technical staff on the value and proper use of BI capabilities and will constantly reinforce the role of BI in the business and clearly communicate what business intelligence will and will not deliver.
The BI Architect ensures the data management and BI layers are integrated to deliver a compatible, workable BI architecture. This architecture establishes the fundamental framework on which all business intelligence functions work.
Collaborate with business stakeholders and cross-functional project teams to understand and refine business requirements and to define and implement the appropriate solution
Architect BI solutions (E/R and star schema Data Models, OLAP cubes, ETL, Reporting/Delivery)
Employ data warehouse/business intelligence tools, technologies and methodologies
Business Intelligence roadmap development and maintenance
Assess and cultivate long-term strategic goals for data warehouse and business intelligence tools in conjunction with business and technical partners
Ensure solutions are production ready and meet defined specifications and service level agreements
Work with the BI technical team to define and implement standards for business intelligence design and development, and the appropriate methodologies
Has decision-making authority for technical and business architecture implementations within the MicroSoft BI domain
Works with PM and project team to define release plan, iteration plan, and identify the appropriate staffing needs for each assigned project.
Acts as a change agent within the organization, as technology, information, and application architecture evolve.
Responsible for care and feeding of existing application portfolio. Feed into the planning process proposals for migration
and obsolescence projects related to portfolio, or specific tools.
Identify and help to prioritize small enhancement projects that will help the portfolio progress, meeting changing business needs.
Health and Safety Requirement: Ensures compliance with the L.L.Bean comprehensive Health and Safety program by knowing and following all safety guidelines, policies, procedures and expectations. Takes immediate and appropriate action to rectify any unsafe conditions.
More than 5
years of experience in BI architecture design, multidimensional data modeling, datamart design, data security, ETL, and process modeling
Strong written and verbal communication skills

Strong understanding of business functions addressed by BI solutions
Expertise of the complete MS BI Suite including Analysis Services (SSAS), Reporting Services (SSRS), Performance Point, PowerPivot, and PowerView.
Ability to design solutions that are appropriate to the problem at hand - in terms of simplicity, cost, and support required.
Good presentation skills. Ability to explain complex technical concepts in pictures and words that are understandable to a broad (including non-technical) audience.
Ability to lead evaluation of potential solutions, and ability to make and clearly communicate decisions as appropriate
Articulate, vocal, able to influence others but also listen to others to potentially shape own perspective
Broad knowledge of IT industry trends and best practices
Education Level: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related area of study
Experience Level: 5-10 years of extensive experience with all phases of Data Warehouse development including prototyping, data modeling, analysis, design, development, testing, documentation
