Large mining and construction firm with operations across multiple states. Client is one of the largest privately owned companies in the construction materials industry with approximately 50
mines (surface and underground), 35
asphalt production facilities and numerous heavy highway construction operations.
Responsibilities:
Strong Training Focus
Must have the ability to:
Perform needs assessments.
Design training curriculum.
Determine best training delivery methods.
Deliver training.
Measure training effectiveness.
Must have a proven track record of:
Designing and delivering technical skill training to laborers and operators.
Designing and delivering management level training.
Increasing employee skill levels and competency.
Understanding of Benefits and Compensation
Should have an appreciation for:
Benefit changes resulting from new legislation.
Benefit program design cost implications.
Retirement plan design.
Compensation structure.
Ensuring competitiveness.
Understanding of Employee and Labor Relations
Should have an appreciation for:
Policy development and deployment
Non-union and union workforces
Career Path
Should be interested in:
A career beginning in training and expanding into a HR generalist role.
Interest in a career progression from a HR specialist to a HR manager to a Director in Human Resources.
Qualifications:
Driven towards a career in Human Resources.
Interest in being in a medium-size company (1500 employees) where you can impact human resource policies and systems.
Degree in human resources or business administration, prefer Masters Degree.
Certifications in human resources and training preferred.
Experience in human resources preferred.
