Summary: A professional educator who collaborates with Mission Nursing employees and managers in assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating orientation, continuing education and education programs at the individual and organizational level. Assists staff and organizational leaders in providing for patient, family and community education as required. Provides and/or education experiences that facilitate competent nursing practice and quality patient care delivery, facilitating new nurse enculturation and providing support for staff in unit based orientation efforts. Responsibilities include centralized nursing orientation, in-service education, and staff development. Maintains active communication among members of the interdisciplinary team. Provides support in review and development of nursing policies and procedures. Uses advanced skills to engage staff in learning, including, but not limited to group activities, simulation, and online or computer-based methods.
Required Education: BSN
Preferred Education: MSN
Required License: Registered Nurse with North Carolina Board of Nursing or compact state as defined by NC Board of Nursing. BLS Certification
Preferred License: Certification in specialty/sub-specialty nursing practice area and/or Nursing Professional Development as indicated. BLS Instructor, ACLS, ACLS Instructor, PALS, PALS Instructor, Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP), and NRP Instructor as necessary for clinical areas served.
Required
Experience: At least three years current experience in the practice area, or closely related area.
Preferred
Experience: Five years or more of clinical experience. Two years teaching experience in a classroom or clinical setting, with experience in staff development or adult instruction; computer skills in word processing and presentation software required; Skill in managing data
