Austin area outdoors product company seeks a contract Graphic Designer to prepare a wide range of creative assets and to support the overall visual presentation of our business. This position will be responsible for production of advertising, packaging, and ongoing brand look and feel. This position will also design for our digital marketing efforts, including online ad banner creations, emails, and create website graphics and landing pages for our websites.
You must have a strong interest in hunting, firearms, or the military. You possess a strong visual design skillset, and also the leadership and influencing skills necessary to share and advocate your ideas within the team, and to senior leaders in our organization. These projects require understanding of layout, type and color, and being able to follow and understand style guides and directions from Sales and Marketing teams while working with minimal supervision. This position works directly with the Director of Marketing.
Essential Duties &
Responsibilities:
Create and produce project related materials: signage, brochures, packaging, print and digital advertising
Prepare and traffic ad mock-up requests for line reviews and sales presentations that consistently apply and enforce style/brand guidelines
Revise creative files accurately and efficiently throughout round reviews based on internal edits; adhere to ever-changing deadlines while consistently delivering accurate rounds and final files for release.
Initiates and oversees product photo shoots, completes postproduction including retouching and color correction when needed, and loads images to web
Prepare files for print, ensuring copy, design and color accuracy of production files. Ensure final mechanicals are accurate and error-free, including file construction, organization and prepping of files for print or digital output. Initiates production by preparing production files for online use and digital and offset presses. Attend press checks as necessary
Design, layout and create for company websites and digital advertising efforts. Provide design of splash pages and landing pages with direction from Marketing and Sales to ensure optimal conversion for company properties. Assists with Web Development, Web Design and all digital projects, and helps to maintain company websites.
Design email marketing newsletters and templates
Knowledge and Skill Requirements:
Highly proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, Dreamweaver)
Proficient understanding of graphic design, including excellent page layout, typography, color, balance and composition skills equal parts technical skill and design sensibility. Portfolio that demonstrates creativity and problem solving required.
Proficient understanding of web graphic design, layout and typography. Experience designing emails or other ongoing digital communications.
Experience with digital and offset press printing (pre-press and production), including the preparation and management of files for production output.
Attention to detail and quality, excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, and flexibility in adjusting to shifting demands, priorities and/or short deadlines. Ability to troubleshoot and find the information needed to get the job done and manage multiple projects simultaneously
Ability to work well within a team environment, with people at all levels of an organization; flexibility and the ability to handle constructive criticism are essential. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills required
Knowledge / education in the use of HTML, CSS and Wordpress systems with willingness to grow and learn in these areas a huge plus
