Job Summary :
Assist the Dental Director in the overall direction, coordination and management of the Dental Operations Department. This includes coordination of programs and processes with other departments. Interact with external customers in matters relating to provision of high quality dental care to service members by guiding and mentoring dentists both internally and externally to ensure quality assurance and process improvement of the Dental Operations. Discuss dental issues with Senior Dental Corps Officers (typically, Colonels: 0-6) of all branches of the service, dentists within the provider network, contract program managers and contract administrators.
Understand and evaluate the entire scope of dental process from initiation to completion. This includes internal and external training, quality assessment, clinical delivery, processing at HQ, data entry, and reporting to service component customers. Opportunities for improvement are identified and recommendations are developed for implementation.
Direct Dental Operations Manager and Supervisor on programs, initiatives and process improvements to facilitate timely and accurate completion of work product
Confer with senior dental corps officers to resolve problems/issues and develop initiatives to increase the dental readiness posture of service members
Approve complex treamtment plans and classification updates in the US Army''s electronic dental record applicatation (DenClass)
Confer with senior management and other Directors and Managers explaining significance of oral pathology and rationale for dental treatments
Travel to group events and other locations to observe processes and evaluate for compliance with directives and policies.
Formulate presentations and speak to a wide audience from lay persons to dental professionals on the dental processes with in the company and it's impact on dental readiness
Direct professional staff (dentists) in their completion of duties and responsibilites as second level reviewers, internal staff trainers, external provider trainers, treatment plan and treatment reviewers/approvers, and their roles as SMEs for first level reviewer
Develop training materials for use by internal and external customers
Supervise the Dental Department Professional Staff ensuring each performs to their full potential
Required Qualifications :
Dentistry Degree (DDS or DMD)

years of clinical experience
An active, unencumbered dental license in any of the 50 states
Possession of or the ability to achieve and maintain a current certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS)
Knowledge of dentistry and dental population management concepts
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate with a diverse group of people/disciplines at all levels of an organization
Experience with management of a workforce comprised of clinical team members
Equivalent combination of education, experience and/or applicable military experience will be considered
Preferred Qualifications :
National Career Readiness Certificate
Background in dental population management, dental public health, or dental insurance field
Previous military healthcare experience, military experience or experience working with military personnel
Proficient computer skills and database experience

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
