The individual will provide key services around the selection, negotiation, purchase and renewal of IS products and services in support of FM Global business objectives.
The incumbent will be responsible for creating and maintaining a portfolio view of products and services for use by Senior Staff in the annual IS planning process. It is expected that he/she will provide a value and investment viewpoint to all levels of IS discussions. The individual in this position will assist in the strategic assessment of existing products and services with IS teams in order to analyze and prioritize the values of the existing agreements in the context of IS goals and business objectives.
This position is responsible for creating and assessing RFP''s (Requests for Proposal) for select IT products and services. He/she will manage the negotiations of various levels of IT investments and develop the final terms and conditions, ensuring that they meet FM Global''s legal requirements. The incumbent is expected to possess a broad knowledge of technology so that any proposals can be expertly evaluated for fair pricing and value to the company.
This position also interfaces with the FM Global legal department in analyzing and resolving contract language and content issues.
Specific duties include:
1. Responsibility for the efficient management of the purchase/renewal cycle of products and services.
2. Maintains and cultivates strategic business relationships with outside vendors and contractors/consultants; develops relationships with
professional organizations, user groups, and/or industry trade groups to stay current with the marketplace.
3. Assists with administration of annual IS budgeting relative to contract renewals.
4. Oversees purchases of strategic technology to ensure that they are in line with current architectural standards and make recommendations
for alternative products when necessary.
5. Participates in key FM Global technology discussions; provides an assessment of product cycles and other third party data.
6. Demonstrates extensive knowledge of technology trends in the marketplace, and can identify and advocate those that have key impact on FM Global business objectives.
Education
Bachelor''s degree with a concentration in Computer Science or Business Advanced degree is a plus.
Experience
5
years in various aspects of Information Technology
3
years of purchasing experience and vendor management which includes procurement of technology in excess of $100k.
Skills/Knowledge
Technical Knowledge and Skills:
Ability to provide clear information and direction to the annual budgeting process.
Understanding of global business models and their technology requirements a plus
Understanding of contractual law as it applies to the purchasing role.
Demonstrated ability to understand the financial ramifications of the acquisition of various technology options.
Understanding of the technical architecture.
Strong knowledge, both from a cost and technical perspective, of current and emerging technologies and their value to FM Global.
Strong analytical and conceptual skills; the ability to identify new opportunities in product selection or contract negotiations.
Ability to maintain and apply knowledge of the key technologies and services either in use or emerging as they relate to the ability of the IS organization to satisfy key business requirements.
Soft Skills:
Ability to effectively work with other parts of the organization including business users IS management, Finance and Legal.
Capability to translate technology trends and communicate their impact on the purchase/investment cycle within FM Global. Ability to manage negotiations o closure that is satisfactory to both parties.
Capable of structuring new and future vendor relationships as well as evolving existing ones to provide and maintain the highest value of IS investments at FM Global.
Skills and demonstrated experience in Persuasion, Negotiation, Relationship Management, Team Building and oral and written communication.
Solid Communication skills, both verbal and written.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
