This position provides Subject Matter Expert (SME) support for the fire safety program functions within the Terminal, Transport & Rail (TT&R;) segment of the business. The Fire Safety Program support will include assessing current fire protection infrastructure and developing/maintaining a fire protection philosophy consistent with all applicable regulations/codes and business unit's risk tolerance. This will require effective collaboration with other HES Professionals, Management, SME's in other MPC Organizations, First Responders and selected Contractors. This position will also serve as the SME on general fire safety questions for TT&R; and work to ensure safety programs are effectively addressing fire related risks. This position will be located in Findlay, Ohio. This position will involve a significant amount of travel, including overnight travel, throughout TT&R;'s operating areas.
The duties of the position include, but are not limited to:
Oversee and conduct fire response training of Marathon employees and Community first responders.
Oversee the fire and evacuation drill program.
Preparation and execution of mutual aid agreements and foster good working relationships with First Responders in the communities in which we operate.
Provide (SME) knowledge on Fire Safety and develop, update and review Standards and Policies.
Provide risk prioritization guidance, SME guidance and collaboration on fire protection-related initiatives and projects including: fire extinguisher purchases, fire detection systems, remote monitoring systems, fire suppression systems, water supply improvements and portable firefighting equipment
Engage in project related work by participating on project teams in the review and approval of DSP's, drawing package reviews, acceptance testing, management of change (MOC) reviews. Serve as the primary SME for ensuring water supply and fire protection equipment meets applicable internal and external standards.
Provide input for major maintenance repairs.
Oversee and prioritize repair of fire system impairment recordkeeping (including outstanding impairments) and tracking recommendations.
Continuously assess risks, develop & execute mitigation plans to address risks.
Emergency Response, as necessary, to fire, high potential events, fire protection system impairments and false discharges.
Serve as an advocate for first line employees to help them work safely.
A Bachelor's Degree in a Fire Safety or a related field is preferred. Required are Fire Safety certifications, a minimum of 5 years of related experience, the ability to travel 40-60% of the time and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
