Job Summary
The Patient Access Representative is responsible for greeting all patients, collecting and documenting correct demographic and billing information at the bedside, maintaining an accurate cash drawer, issuing receipts, making daily deposits, assist patients with scheduling/rescheduling/confirming of all appointments, and maintaining an orderly flow of patients through the reception and lobby areas. The Representative will be required to perform patient access activities in support of all physician practices, and multiple outpatient ancillary departments and inpatient units. Duties also include pre-registration, insurance verification, pre-certification and authorization of admissions and special procedures with insurance companies, including eligibility, to ensure maximum third party reimbursement and help reduce bad debt. The Patient Access Representative will be responsible for providing information, directions and physical assistance to the customers (i.e. escorting patients to designated location, notifying the department of the patient's arrival and, when requested, signing the patient in on the department's log). Must understand process flows and software technology required to support physician office environments, hospital inpatient and outpatient services. Must perform compliant order verification for all inpatient and outpatient orders through actual orders or order software. Acts as a liaison between Patient Access, Billing Office, Utilization Review, Patients, and Physician offices to ensure authorization completion, length of stays and account documentation are in place and all guidelines affecting claims are met.
Conducts financial interviews to include pre-admission, in-house, and discharged patients to assure payment of accounts. Works with the underinsured patients, patients with little or no insurance, and physician office staff in an effort to facilitate services being provided in conjunction with appropriate financial arrangements. In addition, the Patient Access Representative will assume the concierge role of scheduling and coordinating auxiliary services offered at the Village Hospital . Other duties as assigned. Job Requirements
High school graduate or equivalent. Associates degree preferred. Two years medical office or hospital registration experience. Typing 50 words per minute minimum, ICD9 and/or CPT coding, knowledge of insurance, financial experience, balancing and handling large sums of money. Current knowledge of PC use including Windows, MS Office. Office machines (i.e. fax machine, copy machine, various printers).Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
