Examples of Duties:

Generate corporate and association convention business through research, trade shows and direct sales.
Create and maintain a client base in the state, and the regional and national market.
Make written and/or personal presentations to meeting planners, board of directors, convention delegates or site selection committees across the United States.
Solicit and coordinate hotel cost projections and organize facilities packages for meeting planners'' consideration.
Attend trade shows, sales missions, networking meeting and local meetings to solicit convention business.
Coordinate and conduct site tours for meeting planners, showcasing facilities and attractions in Orange County.
Maintain research on competition regarding their marketing and sales strategies.
Organize and implement all local sales blitzes.
Develop and maintain a good working relationship with meeting planners, area attractions, and facilities.
Contact association representatives by phone, letter, e-mail or personal calls to research the association meeting needs and determine the CB's role.
Work closely with all hotels.
Prepare all group bid packets and any literature for sales calls.
Assist the Executive Director in developing the annual sales budget.
Develop and direct familiarization tours/site visits for qualified potential customers to introduce the Orange County/Chapel Hill in various markets.
Keep accurate records and files on past and upcoming conventions and bids. Input complete meeting information in IDSS database system.

Assignments are provided by setting overall objectives and resources available. The employee and supervisor in consultation develop deadlines, projects, and work to be done. The classification may supervise.

Knowledge of the travel and tourism industry and the principles and practices of convention and visitor bureaus.
Knowledge of sales and marketing principles, practices, and techniques.

Knowledge of relevant state laws governing the visitor service industry.
Knowledge of the geography and demographics of the county.
Knowledge of local hotels, facilities, attractions, restaurants, and other services attractive to potential business or leisure travel clients.

This position requires travel and work outside normal business hours
Passion for the industry demonstrated by proven success in hospitality sales, preferably with a CVB or hotel.
Minimum Qualifications :
Requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to a bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Hospitality or related field and five (5) years of marketing experience. Experience with hotel or customer visitor bureau is preferred.
Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license issued by the State of North Carolina for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
