This is an unscheduled part time position that will work as needed hours between 8:00am and 6:00pm. This position will work in Klamath Falls, Oregon.
Licensed Practical Nursing is a scientific process founded on a body of knowledge. Nursing is a learned profession based on an understanding of the human condition across the lifespan, and the relationship of the patient with others and within the environment. It is an art dedicated to the caring of others and the work of healing. Nursing is a dynamic discipline that is continually changing and evolving to include updated knowledge, technologies, and advances in patient care. What is unique for nurses is the configuration and breadth of nursing practice, both in independent aspects of practice and the collaboration with other authorized health care providers. May manages telephone encounters in the clinic reflective of presenting situation, action taken, understanding and intended response of the caller.
Ambulatory care nursing is a unique realm of nursing practice. It is characterized by efficient, focused care of patients. Licensed Practical Nursing is a supportive role based on the knowledge of fundamental health care concepts. The LPN assists in the care, treatment and observation of well, ill, and injured individuals. Health promotion and maintenance, assisting with health counseling and teaching are key supportive activities. Under the direction of a licensed physician, PA or RN, the LPN may apply procedures that protect life and health, i.e. medication administration and treatments consistent with the scope of practice. It is an art dedicated to the caring of others and the work of healing. Ambulatory care nursing is a specialty practice area that is characterized by dealing with situations and issues that are not always predictable.
The LPN must adhere to the federal and state licensing guidelines and subsequent practice as well as the SC Administration predefined Scope of Practice Guidelines. The scope of the LPN practice contributes to the nursing diagnosis of human responses to actual or potential health problems of individuals or groups, providing preventative, restorative and supportive care, health teaching and counseling, case finding and referral; and under the direction of the provider or RN may administrate, supervise, delegate, evaluate and teach health and nursing practice; which may require specialized knowledge, judgment and skill based upon the principles of the biological, physiological and behavioral sciences, and for which the LPN bears responsibility and accountability as part of the health care delivery team.
The LPN may assist with tests and procedures within the scope of practice for the Licensed Practical Nurse. The nurse performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Clinic Operations or designee.
No formal lines of supervision; however, may delegate to Licensed Practical Nurse and unlicensed personnel within their defined scope of practice as well as students and orients.
When students and orients are providing patient care, treatment, and/or services as a part of their training, any/all employees may be asked to supervise the students and orient.
Required Skills
Completion of State Board approved LPN program. Prefer one year of clinical experience.
Currently licensed as a Licensed Practical Nurse with applicable State Nursing board and/or possess multi-state licensure privileges. Functions within the legal scope of practice.
