Mechanical Design Engineer

DUTIES:
1. Create power electronics assemblies utilizing custom parts and preselected components
2. Create custom manufactured parts and their associated drawings
3. Revision control of mechanical parts and their associated drawings
4. Specify new materials and components that meet design specifications
5. Technical point of contact for contract manufacturers and part suppliers
6. Work closely with Manufacturing Engineering to develop and maintain build instructions
7. Assist in design verification; e.g. prototype builds, thermal performance evaluation, environmental testing, etc.
8. Assist Quality Team in developing incoming material inspection points
9. Assist in determining root cause issues and develop corrective actions
10. Train technicians and assemblers in proper assembly techniques
11. Other duties as assigned
REQUIREMENTS:
1. BSME with 3 - 5 years of related experience OR MSME with 2 - 3 years of related experience
2. Demonstrated proficiency in SolidWorks; SolidWorks PDM experience is a plus; SolidWorks Electrical experience is a plus; SolidWorks Simulation or another FEA/CFD package experience is a plus
3. Demonstrated product development experience; specifically, with taking an idea from the concept stage to production
4. Mechanical design experience utilizing sheet metal, machined parts, cold-formed plastics and self-clinching fasteners
5. Experience in creating mechanical drawings; knowledge of GD&T is a plus
6. Experience with ECR, ECO and ECN processes
7. Ability to generate engineering documentation such as design reports; technical writing experience is a plus
8. Excellent oral and written communication skills; Fluency in English is essential
9. Some lifting required (up to 55 lbs individual lift, up to 115 lbs team lift)
10. Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks and push hard to meet demanding deadlinesEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
