QA Analytics Principal Lead Engineer - Contractor - Beaverton OR
Our client is looking for a senior QA Lead to design and implement test architectures of products and systems including, but not limited to, development and execution of manual and automated test scripts, regression testing and the design and administration of quality assurance tools and processes, with specific direction towards web-based applications. Serve as an individual contributor ensuring compliance with product specifications. Self-motivated individual who can operate with general instructions for assignments from a manager. As a Scrum team member, providing insight and support to the entire team.
Knowledge of the following (or similar) tools and technologies:
- OS: Linux/Unix, Windows
- Languages: Java, JavaScript, J2EE
- Web Services: RESTful, SOAP, VAST
- Application Servers: Apache, Tomcat, JBoss
- Other: Cloudare Hadoop and VMWare VSphere and VCloud
- Build/Test Tools: JIRA, RTC, RQM, JUnit, JMeter, Jenkins
Key Duties & Responsibilities (in decreasing Critical Emphasis order, as an individual contributor or as a lead)
- Lead QA effort in defining testing strategies and methodologies.
- Lead efforts to improve test planning, test creation, and test automation.
- Provide training, assistance and guidance to other team members, delegating and assigning work as applicable.
- Provide technical assistance to the team to enable accomplishment of product development objectives
- Develop manual and automated test scripts for regression of existing functionality, bug isolation and new functionality.
- Interact with software engineers to test software changes and defect resolution.
- Review and provide feedback on internal specifications (requirements documents, functional specification, test documents) and external documentation.
- Research new features and technologies for analysis and implementation. Perform feasibility studies on new technology, tools and product concepts.
- Test product features based on knowledge of Operating Systems, databases, and/or web-based software technologies
- Design, document and execute test cases and plans at the module and subsystem level
- Perform installation, upgrade, unit, functional, system, integration, performance and regression testing
- Support and integrate hardware and software along with client software and verify system functionality
- Design and develop test tools, simulators and test harnesses.
- Support customer operations groups, serving as an escalation point of contact for complex problems.
- Troubleshoot and identify complicated software issues, discovered during deployments and trials, which require detailed knowledge of software technology as well as a deep product understanding.
Skill Set Desired:
Formal Education: BS EE or CS or equivalent
Experience: 10 13 years in an engineering test environment with IP Networking.
- Strong knowledge of software development and SQA processes and technologies
- Knowledge of, and practice in Agile Methodologies such as Scrum.
- Advanced knowledge of operating systems, networking standards and protocols.
- Ability to deal with complex systems and situations, to analytically identify cause and affect relationships, perform root cause analysis, and assist in logically developing action plans.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills. Able to document requirements, test plans, test designs and project status.
- Manage time effectively, from day to day as well as to project schedules.
- Able to work with and partner with developers, marketing, technical support and members from other teams.
- Knowledge of the Telecommunications and Cable TV industry.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
