The Plant Helper position is an entry level role in the Operations Department at our Edgewater Generating facility. Your math, science, problem solving and mechanical skills will be used on a daily basis as you expand upon your working knowledge of power plant operations. Makes inside and outside rounds of plant and surrounding grounds.
Performs plant cleanup.
Checks boiler and turbine related equipment.
Assist in plant overhauls.
Collect coal, ash and water samples.
Clean and clears coal handling equipment.
Check and clean flue-gas treatment equipment.
Performs ash and slag handling.
Check dust and air handling equipment.
Keeps equipment lubricated and takes care of minor maintenance needs.
Operates overhead crane and forklift when qualified.
Support other departments where qualified when on relief or overhauls.
Keep the Shift Supervisor informed of problems and safety issues and assist with training of new helpers.
Needs to complete necessary training books under the direction of the Shift Supervisor to be considered for promotion to the Auxiliary Equipment Operator.
This position is on a 12 hour swing shift.
Proven experience working around machinery or process equipment or educational equivalent.
General knowledge of mathematics and science at the high school level and mechanical ability.
Prefer two years of experience and/or equivalent in an electric generating facility and/or steam generating station.
Ability to work with others and understand the layout and operation of a generating station.
Possess a valid driver's license.
Ability to perform the physical requirements
f the job.
Knowledge of specific safety rules prior to beginning any task.
Ability to work effectively in a culturally diverse work group.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
