Business Unit Description:
As part of the ITW Powertrain Components Division, Filter Products specializes in the manufacture of plastic injected parts with filtration embedded within. Major business segments include automotive Tier 1 and OE customers. Operations are located in Mazon IL, Lake Geneva WI and Juarez MX.
This position will support the Lake Geneva location.
Position
Summary:
The Quality Engineer has responsibility to plan and manage the effective operation of the manufacturing quality functions. The candidate will be responsible to ensure that quality objectives and goals are established and deployed in order to continuously improve and exceed the required quality performance levels.
Primary
Responsibilities:
Collect and utilize quality performance data to reduce cost of non-conformances and assess the effectiveness of the overall plant quality system.
Train and apply formal problem methods (8D) to analyze and resolve customer complaints in a timely fashion.
Maintain adequate quality staffing levels and improve quality competency levels by providing leadership and training to the manufacturing teams on quality tools and systems.
Provide support and direction utilizing core tools such as PFMEA, Control Plans and other proven process control elements from initial product launch through PPAP submission.
Maintain robust supplier management practices, including but not limited to, incoming receiving inspection and supplier quality development.
Maintain adequate maintenance and calibration of gages and measurement devices.
Maintain internal auditing processes aimed at achieving robust quality systems and sustaining industry quality and environmental certifications.
Lead and support improvement initiatives to reduce scrap/rework through improved process control and error proofing methods.
## Job Requirements
Position Skills and Experience Requirements:
Minimum of 5 years direct quality experience, preferably in a multi-site environment
Minimum of 4 years in a supervisory / managerial role
Extensive knowledge in automotive requirements including PPAP, SPC, APQP, PFMEA, MSA and Metrologies
Comprehensive knowledge of ISO9001 and ISO/TS16949 Quality System requirements
Comprehensive knowledge of ISO14001 Environmental System requirements
Expert skills in utilizing the fundamentals of problem-solving and mentoring others in the accurate use of these Quality tools
Excellent verbal and written English communication skills
Self-motivated with the ability to empower others to achieve high levels of performance
