IDEXX Laboratories, Inc , - is currently hiring fora Mechanical Engineer An excellent opportunity to be innovative, while working with Research Scientists and other Engineers on water testing products.
JOB DUTIES AND
Responsibilities:
Performs a variety of mechanical engineering activities related to product support and designing new products.
Assists in design and development of new consumables and instruments from inception through pilot production in a team environment.
Evaluates mechanical designs and identifies potential risk areas.
Supports the Customer Support group in identifying the root cause in product issues.
Processes design changes to consumables and instruments.
Assists other engineers with best practices for material selection, design tradeoffs, thermal/mechanical analyses and tolerance studies.
Completes documentation of designs conforming to IDEXX documentation standards including detail and assembly drawings in Solidworks; bills of material; design review presentations; lab and analysis reports; manufacturing assembly drawings and work instructions.
Participates in brainstorming sessions to create new products and technologies.
## Qualifications
EDUCATION:
4 year Mechanical Engineering or Biomedical Engineering degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES :
Strong analytical and problem solving skills
Hands on work approach
Ability to work in team-oriented environment
Ability to understand interactions of mechanical parts and determine solutions to debug problems
3D CAD experience, including Solidworks is required
Expertise with ANSYS for stress and heat transfer a plus
Demonstrated ability to design manufacturable, reliable and cost effective medical diagnostic instruments or other precision instruments in other industries a plus
Strong analytical and computational skills in structural analysis, heat transfer, fluid dynamics, and tolerance studies
Experience designing highly integrated medical devices including fluidic and precision measurement systems a plus
Experience with motion control systems, electro mechanical assemblies and electronics packaging a plus
Experience designing for some or all of the following processes: injection molding, thermoforming, sheet metal fabrication, welding, brazing, casting, painting, plating
Understanding of machining processes and methods
WORK ENVIRONMENT_:_
Office, engineering lab, biological lab, and industrial environments requiring safety, clean room and other equipment. Exposure to supplier assembly processes using chemicals
