Route, schedule and batch all distribution center orders.Develop distribution center batch plan.
Determine optimal store delivery windows.
Assign appropriate carriers to each trip and proper overrides based on Fleet and Contract Carriage commitments.
Notify all carriers of equipment needs for each schedule (order set).
Procure and assign trailers to the schedule as required.
Oversees shift transportation clerical staff.
Run various reports.
Performs various what-if scenarios as prescribed by the transportation manager.
Make necessary changes to schedule deliveries resulting from equipment failure, weather delays or emergencies.
Notify necessary parties involved in changes to prescribed delivery and/or production plan.
Manage performance-reporting functions, including on-time deliveries and cube utilization.
Monitor accuracy of carrier reporting.
Flexibility to work variable shifts.
o Understanding of customer and vendor time commitments and their impact on distribution center operations.
o Knowledge of distribution center operations and how they are impacted by routing and batching decisions.
o Understanding of the geographical make up of the distribution center's territory, including store locations and highway network.
