POSITION SUMMARY
Works under the direct supervision of the nurse manager. The position is accountable to nurse manager, clinical unit coordinator, supervision, Senior Vice President Patient Care Services/CNO, the patient and family. Performs the primary functions of an RN in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating, the care of all assigned patients on the unit during his/her shift. Accepts the responsibility of the directing co-workers in the management of hospital resources (personnel, supplies, and equipment).
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
1) Works within the scope of the Kentucky Nursing Laws for the licensed Registered Nurse.
2) Completes initial and ongoing nursing assessments and documents findings in the patient medical record.
3) Develops a plan of care based on assessment of the patient in collaboration with other healthcare disciplines.
4) Initiates discharge planning process upon patient admission and participate in the process throughout hospitalization.
5) Responsible for providing, delegating, and coordinating the patient''s plan of care with emphasis placed upon quality.
6) Demonstrates the ability to perform skills needed for competent patient care delivery based upon established nursing service and nursing unit competency standards.
7) Evaluates patient''s response to care and treatment and revises patient''s plan of care on an ongoing basis.
8) Initiates and coordinates patient and family/significant other education.
9) Contributes to the financial operation of the unit and hospital through prudent uses of hospital resources, without compromising the quality of patient care rendered.
10) Ensures that safety of patients, family/significant other, and employees is maintained.
11) Contributes and enhances the team approach to patient care using the multi-disciplinary approach.
12) Exhibits professional growth through participation in committees, inservices, Quality Improvement, and organizational commitment.
13) Enhances patient satisfaction by incorporating hourly rounding, use of ADIET, and tools implemented to promote patient satisfaction and customer service.
14) Able to place orders in the computerized system for lab work, xrays, dietary , and etc.
15) Schedules patients for IP or OP procedures.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
