Youth Shelter Manager

Responsible for the day to day operation of the emergency youth shelter, conducting and overseeing individual, group and family counseling for residents.
Schedules staff to ensure adequate supervision of the facility and residents 24 hours. Provides traning for staff members as needed. Develops and monitors comprehensive service plans to address the needs of shelter residents. Conducts individual, group and family counseling session. Provides guidance to youths and their family in establishing positive self-image and resolving problems associated with violence, neglect, substance abuse and family dysfunction. Coordinates services with other agencies to ensure successful placement and treatmehnt of children. Maintains recrods reflecting the activities of each child, prepare reports from those records for use in legal proceedings, other Child Welfare agencies and funding agencies. Performs other duties as assigned.
Bachelor''s degree from four-year college of univeristy; no substitutions. An additional five (5) years experience as a counselor/supervisor in a residential facility is required. Must possess a valid driver''s license with a driving history verified through a motor vehicle report that meets requirements for Cherokee Nation underwriting rating. Training in residential living supervision is required.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Directly supervises ten to twenty employees working in the Youth Shelter. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization''s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
WORK HOURS: Hours generally 8-5, may vary; emergency on-call 24 hr.
