As a team member, the Registered Nurse is expected to consistently deliver the best in care and customer service and demonstrate respect, dignity, kindness and empathy in each encounter with our patients, their families, visitors, and with each other. As part of the health care team, assumes primary accountability for nursing coordination and provision of individualized care for patients of all ages. Utilizes delegation and critical thinking skills to provide quality service through a team oriented, collaborative approach to patient care. Interacts with patients, families, visitors, and all members of the health care team to develop, coordinate, and manage the plan of care. Delegates and oversees delivery of patient care. Maintains patient, staff and customer confidentiality. Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of life span growth and development and assesses data reflective of the patient's status. Interprets the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his or her age specific needs and provides care according to departmental policies and procedures. May be exposed to infectious diseases, bio-hazardous and hazardous materials, including regulated medical wastes, and combative patients. Work is performed in a patient care environment and is often fast-paced, requiring use of prioritization skills. Physical requirements include: lifting, prolonged periods of standing, bending, pushing, pulling, reaching, walking, etc.
Minimum Qualifications Required:
Education:
Graduate of school of professional nursing. BSN preferred.
Experience:
Previous experience desired.
Licensure, certification, and/or registration:
Currently licensed as Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia or new graduate of approved program eligible to sit for the Virginia licensure exam. AHA BLS-HCP required. May be required to obtain/maintain BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP based on specific work unit. CPR certification required.

Qualifications:
Must successfully complete orientation and competency requirements. Keyboarding skills and computer literacy required for automated computer systems, including electronic medical records. Must be able to meet essential job functions.
