To manage a group of Project/Development Editors in order to maintain an efficient, effective and cooperative team whose primary aim is to ensure timely delivery of externally authored and edited content. This content must meet market requirements, comply with contract specifications and be ready to be produced and published in any required format.
Requirements:
Educated to degree level or equivalent
Previous line management experience
Significant experience in publishing
Knowledge of the production process
A good knowledge of Word, Excel and Outlook
Basic knowledge of file types, e.g. XML, PDF, image files
Ability to make high quality, logical decisions
Stays optimistic and positive when leading others in stressful situations
Planning and organization, multi-tasking skills
Able to work independently without close supervision
Evidence of problem-solving skills
Able to take personal responsibility for mistakes, failures and shortcomings
Ability to create a climate in which others want to do their best
Pro-actively identifies strengths and weaknesses in direct reports
Ability to resolve disagreements, and understands the needs or viewpoints of others to quickly find common ground
Good communication skills, both written and verbal, with in-house and external contacts
