AREAS OF CONSIDERATION:
FIRST : Permanently employed Army Technicians Statewide.
SECOND :Qualified members of the Tennessee Army National Guard.
THIRD: Applicants eligible for membership in the TN Army National Guard.
INTRODUCTION: This position is located in the Joint Forces Headquarters--State, Logistics Directorate (J-4/G-4), State Surface Maintenance Management Office. The primary purpose of the work is to analyze and evaluate maintenance operations, production, and procedures; and make recommendations for improvement. This requires practical knowledge of, and skill in applying, principles, concepts, and methods of surface maintenance equipment, facilities, and service operations.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO : Analyzes and resolves a variety of conventional maintenance management problems to improve existing maintenance operations, production, and practices that impact the overall maintenance program. Establishes methods andprocedures to ensure maintenance tasks performed meet or exceed established policies andregulations. May serveas a member of the Command Maintenance Evaluation Team (COMET). AnalyzesCOMET results, develops action plansto correct problems, and monitors implementation. Oversees and provides technical guidance regarding Class IX (Class 9) repair parts management; develops policy and procedures; and evaluates and revises, as needed. Coordinates with the USPFO and other installation organizations to resolve problems. Establishes and monitors the shop safetyand health program. Provides instruction, investigates accidents, andassures facilitiesmeet established requirements. Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Experience, education, or training which has provided the applicant with a knowledge of equipment maintenance work, or skill in reading engineering drawings and specifications, using test instruments, making computations, and keeping records. Experience using computer and automation systems.
REQUIRED SPECIALIZED
Experience: Must have at least 24 months experience in applying principles, concepts, and methods of equipment, facility, or service operations sufficient in designing projects or planning assignments. Experience using well-established occupational methods and techniques to determine facility, grounds, equipment overhaul, maintenance, restoration, repair needs, printing design layout, etc.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES : Resume must reflect applicable experience.
Knowledge of, and skill in applying, principles, concepts, and methods involving maintenance equipment, facilities, and service operations.
Knowledge of the principles, concepts, and methods of maintenance management sufficient to provide advice, assistance, and guidance to shop personnel.
Knowledge of the full range of maintenance shop standards, policies, regulations, and methods sufficient to analyzethe effectiveness and efficiency of maintenance management, repair, and training; and the need for improving existing practices that impact the overall maintenance program.
Knowledge of and ability to oversee maintenance management programs, material readiness programs, cost reduction programs, and maintenance shop practices.
Ability to facilitate and/or offer classroom training, as needed.
SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE : Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in _any field_ leading to a bachelor''s degree, in an accredited college or university, meets the GS-5 level requirements.
MILITARY REQUIREMENTS - Military skill set is determined by AFSC/MOS requirements. Upon selection, individuals must be assigned to a compatible military AFSC/MOS in accordance with statutes and National Guard Bureau regulations and must obtain/maintain all requirements of the AFSC/MOS. Specific requirements are found in: references listed below, NGB Compatibility tables and your local Personnel section.
For positions requiring a security clearance (Secret or Top Secret) the applicant must possess or be able to obtain a clearance within one year of appointment.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS - For positions requiring the operation of motor vehicles, candidates must have a valid state driver's license for the state in which they live or are principally employed.
