Purchasing Manager needed for a rapidly growing global tier 1 automotive supplier in the Metro Detroit area. Our client, one of the fastest growing Automotive Tier 1 / Tier 2 suppliers in North America is currently in search for a Purchasng Manager that has experience managing a team of buyers. This position is a staff addition due to the recent growth, a strong sales forecast and a promotion. Ideal candidate will have 5 years experience as a Purchasing Manager or Purchasing Supervisor in the automotive industry that has experience purchasing capital equipment, production components preferably with stamped or welded products. Preference will be given to candidates with experience within automotive seating, mechanisms, seat structures, etc.
Responsibilities for the Purchasing Manager
Manages supplier commercial issues (catastrophic tooling issues, supplier financial state, bankruptcy, supplier resourcing)
Manages all day-to-day purchasing activities
Enforces supplier compliance to Company Terms & Conditions of Purchase and Supplier Manual
Negotiates and executes high dollar value buys
Manages all day-to-day purchasing activities
Evaluates and recommends make/buy decisions; maintains key supplier relationships
Requirements for the Purchasing Manager

years in Purchasing with supervisory experience
Ability to multitask in a fast paced environmentExcellent verbal and written communication skillsProficient in Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel)Ability to review and understand part prints (basic GD&T and tolerancing)
