Job Description
This is a unique opportunity for the right candidate to play a pivotal role in the evolution of IT capabilities to support the unique mission of the Jackson Laboratory to harness the power of genomics to deliver precision medicine, targeted prevention and specific cures.
The Director IT Infrastructure's role is to lead a time of IT professionals to architect, design, plan, organize, and implement technologies to support overall operations to ensure the stable operation of the Laboratory's IT computing, storage, network and telecommunications technology platforms. The infrastructure delivery team is the engineering, systems administrators and service desk staff and therefore the Director must provide the necessary leadership and disciplines to insure the highest level of reliability, service, scalability, and business continuity. The Director will participate in a broad spectrum of projects, discussions, decisions both across the IT function and the Laboratory operations and research services.
Design and implement short- and long-term strategic plans to ensure infrastructure capacity meets existing and future requirements using contemporary technologies that may exist local and external.
Develop, implement, and maintain policies, procedures, and associated training plans for infrastructure administration and project management. Adheres to Institute and IT departmental policies and procedures
Participate in the development of IT strategies in collaboration with Laboratory stakeholders mindful of various regulations imposed by the Federal and State statute.
Direct and oversee projects team to insure successful attainment of objectives
Provide direct and indirect leadership cross-functionality while managing issues, conflicts and priorities.
Conduct research and make recommendations on products, services, protocols, and standards in support of all infrastructure procurement and development efforts.
Establish service level agreements with business units.
Make recommendations and implement technologies to streamline infrastructure and desktop deployments.
Build a team of infrastructure professional consistent with new design and direction.
Prepare scope of work reports, and other documentation for infrastructure projects and associated efforts.
Negotiate with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to secure infrastructure-specific products and services.
Assist with the planning and deployment of infrastructure security measures.
Design, maintain, develop, implement, and evaluate all infrastructure systems, including LANs, WANs, Internet, intranet, security, wireless implementations, and so on.
Conduct feasibility studies for various new and upgrade projects, improvements, and other conversions. Conduct pilots wherever possible.
Define hardware and software standards in conjunction with owners and stakeholders.
Proactively monitor the health and test network performance and provide network performance statistics and reports; develop strategies for maintaining network infrastructure.

Practice IT asset management, including maintenance of component inventory and related documentation. Trend Infrastructure utilization.
Provides analytical skills including troubleshooting, problem resolution, risk definition, and mitigation. Determines root cause and actions to be taken to restore service.
Provide consultation on complex projects.
Direct and administrate technicians, and where necessary, participate in performance reviews and corrective action. Look for opportunities to mentor and give challenging tasks to IT technicians.
Demonstrates a high level of service delivery and does whatever is necessary to ensure customer satisfaction. Be cognizant of end user experience with using technologies. Strive for a balance of user friendly and secure environment.
The successful candidate will undergo a satisfactory background/consumer credit check prior to employment.
Required Experience
Four-year university degree or college diploma in Computer Science, Mathematics or equivalent.
At least 10 years of experience in managing technology operations, with at least 5 years involving delivering infrastructure design and operational excellence.
Exceptional knowledge of service and application delivery, as well as successful service level agreement accomplishments.
Solid experience with a broad spectrum of technologies including servers, storage systems, network, backup/archive, integration systems, high availability, collaboration/communication and data security systems.
Hands-on experience in deploying and managing business application systems and infrastructure systems. Knowledge of current technology protocols and standards, including familiarity with ITIL concepts. Conversant with programming languages and development tools.
5 years of experience in design and implement short- and long-term strategic plans to ensure infrastructure capacity meets existing and future requirements using contemporary technologies that may exist local and external.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
